I know ALOT of you guys are from the San Diego area.....

My sister wants to do her Christmas shopping with some friends outside of OC.... She asked me what kind of mall Fashion Valley is and I told her I had no clue...

So what is it like??? Huge, average, small?? any stores that stick out?? just the run of the mill ones??

Surrounding stores??

Any info would be appreciated....

Thanks

you know......some are sears malls, some are hotdog on a stick........fashion valley is more on the Coach/LV/Tiffany's sort of route...

it's very upscale now. you can find stores like Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Saks 5th Ave, Nordstrom's, and Neiman Marcus, and it has a Bloomingdales.

it's a pretty big outdoor mall and has two stories.

basically, if you're looking for upscale boutiques and company stores (Sony, Bose, etc), this is the place to go.

Not quite on the scale of South Coast Plaza, but bigger than Fashion Island

Gonna be stupid-crowded this time of year though! UTC will be much easier to get in and out of. Has most of the same stores with the exception of the actual designer stores. Fashion definitely has more there.

Yeah, Fashion Valley is a little upper classy mall, if she doesn't want to spend too much, she should go to Horton Plaza, they have moderate companies and a huge selection. Mission valley is very destination (wanna go to a specific store) shopping, and you might get lynched at Parkway Plaza!!! EC RULES!!!!!!

UTC and Horton Plaza are nice simple malls

has some nicer shops and regulars

Fashion has more designer stuff

Mission Valley is ok, sometimes feels like high school

I was just there at the end of last week. Wasn't crowded at all. And being I was in uniform, I got plenty of attention and all the help I needed from the sales reps :)

Jonelle and I were there on Sunday afternoon. Pain in the ass to get in and parked. Traffic around the mall sucked bad. Glad I'm basically done with shopping. I can avoid the mall for now!

Dude, if your friends are shoppers, they should stay away from malls. The mall stores are a dime a dozen. They should try finding neighborhood boutiques that have original items. Also support local businesses!

If you get there early, I recommend using the Valet parking. We usually do it, but last weekend we got there around 2 and the valet was full. It resulted in making laps for 40 minutes prior to finding a parking spot.

:tup2: Take them to La Jolla or something so they can go boutique shopping.

Or, if you want, drive to the outlets in palm springs . . . nice designer brands, major discounts!!

Fashion Valley is probably the nicest mall in SD. It seems like people get dressed up just to go there.

Mission Valley is closeby too just in case they need to hit up Target, Sports Chalet, Macy's, or watch a movie.

Then on the way back up to OC they can hit up the Carlsbad outlets (Banana Republic, Kenneth Cole, Polo, Puma, Adidas).

The crowds depend on what time of day it is. I shopped Fashion Valley last friday around lunchtime and it was easy, but it was also raining which probably kept most people away.

Happy shopping !

I've found cute shops in the Hillcrest/University Heights/Normal Heights/North Park areas that carry one-of-a-kind items in price ranges from Wal-Mart to Burberry. Most of these shops feature local designers/artisans and are owned by locals!
