The smog shops seem to be avoiding my car like a plague cuz of my neuspeed supercharger, even though it's smog legal. Fukin bastards!
I'd appreciate any recommendations for mod friendly smog shops in San Diego.
Thx a bunch! :D
your kit should have come with a CARB certification EO# sticker to put under the hood so the smog shops know your kit is kosher, that would be my first step is to call nuespeed and get one.

Well, it does have a CARB EO# & it's affixed to the engine bay but they still refused to test it anyway. The suggest going to a test only station or a referee station. :wtf:
Thx for your help.
hmm thats funny....they shouldn't have given you static...I would go to the referee then or try another shop, i have a customer with a 930 turbo built to the balls with no smog pump or cat, he always gets the "TEST ONLY letter. lucky for him the guys down their only see one 930 every two years and its his, so they don't know what should or shouldn't be on it! try the smog place on clairmont mesa blvd across the street from fuzion. or, i've taken my previous cars to a place on black mountain road, near miramar, and never got hassled for parts. if you have to go to a referee it will suck because they are usually more expensive. you might want to call the DMV and see if they would recommend someplace.

I have a guy up here in oceanside that is not bad he is clueless
I took my 3a swapped rocco there he asks is there anything modified I should know about, nope stock
he then asks is this original 1.7 I told him it was rebuilt
the car originally had air conditioning and vacuum adavnce timing now has air disconnected but still in engine bay and ks ignition so the vacuum hoses are very differnt he looks around for like 10 minutes and keeps looking at the diagram I was paniking he then comes over goes looks like everything is where is is suppoesed to be.
Then he goes does it have a o2 sensor I told him right in the manifold climbs under comes out and goes why does it say 2.0 on your block so I told him all Vws use the same block and there was a problem with the old block so they used this one and he bought it

the shell on del mar heightds road. they dont care whats under the hood as long as they get PAID!
Check out Smogs.R.Us in La Mesa at the corner of Fletcher Parkway and Dallas. The guy there understands what a CARB legal modification is. I have several on one of my cars and he didn't bat an eye or question anything--found all the stickers/markings on his own.
He does follow the rules, though. Be aware that he failed me one time for having a spark plug wire not plugged onto the wire. Pissed me off because he didn't tell me about it so that I could correct it before he ran the test.

San Diego Test only Smog station on Adams Ave
Scott runs and owns it and is a great guy and a dubber.
I don't have his number handy, but he's in the book. Call ahead of time to confirm the SC situation, but it shouldn't be a problem.
