beat half life 2...

i got stuck in the prison, they only give you 3 turrents to use and all the enemy NPC's (Non-Playable Characters) are comin at you in every direction, i got pissed, i was going on 2 1/2 hours trying to get through that one part!!! i had to use a cheat...beat it in about 4 hours after that...LOL!!! great game, beautiful graphics (DAMN!!!), ending was mmm ***shaking hand***

i was playing the game @ 1024 x 768 with everything on high and i was running a constant 28 fps, it would dip down to 15fps indoors, but it didn't hurt gameplay. in an intense firefight, i didn't notice any slow down like in Doom3. explosions and like 4 or 5 enemy's comin at you, i didn't really notice any slow down, only when i looked at the FPS.

Current rig:

3.0 Ghz H/T
Abit V7 800mhz FSB
1gig 3200 DDR 400mhz ram
GeForce FX5700LE 256M DDR (driver version 66.93)
using on-board sound (i should get a sound card, i could get a couple of frames out of it)
Windows XP w/Service Pack 1

i dropped the screen resolution to 800x400, constant 30fps - 60fps indoors and outdoors, with everything set to high and simple water reflections. i guess i should drop everything down to medium...oh well, just wanted to see what my computer could do.

so whats the next game i should get? Halo2 is done, Doom 3 done, whats next?

i have an avg fps that fluctuates at around 75-180 fps.

I passed that part by taking the three turrets and cramped my self into one of the jail cells :D

omg!!! i was stuck there for about 2.5hours. i'd move all the boxes, metal drums, in one of the doorways where a turrent wasn't able to cover, so the NPC's wouldn't be able to get through. the NPC's would just push its way through and sometimes the NPC would just throw a nade to blow the boxes away. smart NPC's!!! i just got frustrated...mah bad!!!

radeon rx600. the new rx800 is better tho. but much more expensive. also im running 3.4ghz lga 775 w/ ddr2 memory. so thathelps. with sata drives. and more =)

That part was pretty difficult for me until I figured out a pretty good way of defending myself without firing more than 10 shots and having the turrets do all of the work. All I did was turned the turrets around and left them in their stalls. I just stood in the stall in between the turrets. When the combine came in, the turrets took care of them. The combine couldn't knock the turrets down with nades since the stall is narrow. If a grenade gets tossed in, i just use the gravity gun. If a combine gets through, I just blast them with a shotty.

I passed that part by setting up the turrets, and stacking the boxes/barrels on the right side and climbed up onto the 2nd floor. Didn't even get shot once.
Haven't had time to play it at all since school started up again :-/ Stupid college, getting in the way of video games!

I usually stay around 100fps w/ 4xAA and 8xAF DX9, V-Sync off and 1280x960

i beat that section in under 10 minutes. first try. i just set up the turrets on both sides of te stairs and ran back n forth picking up the turrets as they were knocked down. on top of that, i just threw grenades towards the entrances of the guards and used my shotty and pistol....

but yes, very awesome game..
