My roommate has an 01 Jetta that was purchased with a salvaged title (I think) from Texas. The car has no airbags and lately her tail lights have not been working.

During the day, no big deal, however she's been pulled over and given a warning already and I really don't want to see her get hurt for driving with no lights!

The Officer suggested that it could be a wiring problem ("German cars are notorious for wiring problems") and knowing that the car has been in an accident only leads me to believe that that is the case.

Can someone make a Vag-Com house call? Or can we meet you up somewhere??? Is this something easily fixed at home?? I'm a clueless when it comes to Jetta's. (Although being a girl, you'd think I'd know :D)

TIA!

Call up a dealer and ask them about the break switch recall....

I may not be correct here, or even close for that matter, but one of my buddies had issues with his tailights on his jetta. Went in for the brake switch recall and it was fixed.

If it is a brake light switch I don't think she would be able to get out of prak assuming it is an automatic.

Vag Com won't help much on an 01.
Check the bulbs, the fuse.
