From what I've read so far, which isn't much (please excuse me, I'm a newbie) the most popular chips at the moment are APR and Revo. Revo is the cheaper alternative of the two at $550 for a stage 2 whereas the APR is $600 for a stage 2 tune.

IMO....
Springs
(assuming you want performance)
cup kits
Autotech
Vogland
H&R
Eibach
Coilovers
KW (3 levels)
Koni
Blisten
Vogland
(if you want nice drop with good handling)
coils
Weitec
Vmaxx
never buy only springs alone
and get a 28mm Rear sway bar (Neuspeed-autotech-H/R....)
Chip/Flash
GIAC
APR
REVO
UNITORNIC
they are all good pick one. GIAC and APR are very popular and very well reviewd:tup2:

In my research I've been doing before I order my GTI I've come across some good info. APR is a good proven re-flash. I'm personally going to go with the Vogtland/koni spring/strut set up. All totaled up will run about $1200.

check out the Chip FAQ on www.golfmkv.com:
the most popular chips among the MKV crowd is APR, GIAC and REVO
what kinda springs you looking for? you looking for a good amount of drop? or just a drop to get rid of the 4x4 status and maintain the stock ride comfort? if you're looking for a low drop, I would recommend H&R super sports or Eibach sportlines. I would also HIGHLY recommend getting some shocks/struts to go with the combo. either Bilstein sports or Konis. if you're looking for some springs to maintain the stock ride comfort and don't wanna add shocks/struts then I would go with the Eibach pro-kit
