View Full Version : 2.0T Best On Demand Power Mod??

So this may be a stupid question, but I am new to turbo cars, and euros in general, so please try to help. What I was wondering is what is the best mod to do to give me some more on demand rolling power. I'm not talking about for racing or anything, but I drive a lot on the highway and I like to push my car a little, so I like having power there when I need it. I already did the APR chip tuning, but want that little extra. The only thing I don't want is anything that would be warranty voiding. A friend of mine suggested that maybe the Forge DV will keep the turbo spooling, but isn't that for more of a dead stop? Any ideas? Thanks.

Thanks man. Of those items, do you think the DV would be the best first step for better throttle response?

I think intake will give you a better response, then get the dv after  Especially since you drive on the highway alot, you will feel more of a difference at higher speeds with the intake...
Anyone else wanna chime in?
The forge DV does nothing better then the stock DV, except in the respect of longevity, same function, the only time you will notice a difference, is if you are replacing a stock DV that is blown.
I would go with a TBE, intake, then up to APR STG2, then for more kicks, a fuel pump upgrade

intake, TBE (or DP if you don't want to spend too much on a full exhaust sytem) and then get the APR Stage 2 file.
and like what Mike said, if you want more power after that, consider a FP (APR and Autotech are the only brands with a FP at the moment)

Thanks guys, the APR fuel pump was already on my list, but at 1K, it won't be the next thing. Looks like I will probably go Intake, DV, then either the Fuel Pump or Exhaust.
I would do the exhaust before the pump, you need more air to burn more fuel, thus it has to leave the motor too. The APR pump is pricey, Autotech has the kit, I will wait ot see how these pan out, along with the longevity of the DSG and mods

Forge DV isn't going to add anything really. It'll just last a bit longer than the stock one. It won't add any power or change throttle response at all. It's actually slower than the stock valve, so you're getting the best response using it.
TBE or simply just the downpipe is a great next step, along with APR stage 2 software. Then start saving up for the fuel pump.

Will getting the stage II APR program give me any better performance without the DP, or is that not recommended?

I'd go with just the downpipe. It'll give you about an 11hp increase without the noise of a catback.

Stage 2 is basically a file to "turn off" the CEL that you get from having a downpipe or TBE. you can't get Stage 2 unless you have a DP or TBE

a DP for the 2.0t actually gives you a little bit more power, especially with a chip

I'd recommend the DP next then the intake. A full exhaust on the the MKV is not necessary unless you want the additional noise. The stock intake seems to be pretty good but a drop in K&N would help it out a little more. You will need the stage 2 if you install the DP or an angle block to trick your o2 sensor.
I have a neuspeed intake and ATP DP installed without flashing and the turbo spools up real quick now!

Cool, thanks man, seems like everyone agrees on the downpipe, so looks like next thing will be heading to Pure to get the APR DP!

Cool man, let me know how the EVOMS goes, I've had my eye on that and the Carbino, did you order the engine cover too?

no need for an engine cover, just mod your stock one to fit.... Also, I'm not sure if you HAVE to have APR. I picked up a used ATP Down pipe for 200 bucks they are pretty close to APR if you ask me. Search Golfmkv classified for people parting out their cars. I also picked up my intake used for only $100. I'm all about prospering on other peoples stupidity :)
this is what my stock cover came out looking like

nah I didn't order the EVOMS engine cover, no need to. I'm just gonna custom fit my stock engine cover or just leave it off.
to be honest with you, I wouldn't get the Carbonio intake. I would get either the EVOMS or Neuspeed. the Carbonio intake is just for show and produces MINIMAL gains.
check out the dyno sheets of the EVOMS on their website

plus chip, dp, wga, intercooler and a turbo kit lol but the little stuff to improve the stock components and allow the engine to flow and breathe better will help throttle response a ton good luck
