This happens every 10-15 years... it happened in the early 90s (hmmm, when a Bush was leaving office) and it's happened again. Just hold tight and the market will pick up again (you might have to wait 5-10 years, but it will). The housing industry was so overinflated, it was almost obvious that this was going to happen. I feel really bad for those who bought high and are down on their luck now. Shoot, we'd be in the same situation if our place would have sold last year.

But, if you can, now is the time to buy into the market (stocks, mutual funds, etc). Buy cheap, sell high - money is made in a bear market!!!

As for the global effect, it's not known yet, but it's likely to follow suit. The pros and cons of globalization!

I asked my boss if I could have my paycheck deposited in Euros. She said no. But for realsies, Rob and I were considering investing some of our cash money in British Pounds in Scotland, but with the globalization shennanigans, it's all the same (especially in the UK).

Everyone knew this was coming! Hyper inflation followed by a fallout.

I'm with you, my fiance and I are looking to buy in the next year or two, so we keep hoping for continued slide.

Too many people got in way over their heads with interest only loans and huge seconds, and now they are paying for it. It infuriates me that the government is even considering helping out people just because they were financially irresponsible. Let the markets level out naturally.
