Hey there guys, I just recently discovered this forum through a friend that just replaced my timing belt. Pretty cool site, with lots of info......anyways, he changed my timing belt on my 2003 Audi A4 1.8t for $300 + parts. That's and amazing price if you asked me. Miramar Audi tried to charge me $1,100 for the replacement!!! The only draw back is that he does work from home, but his work and cheap labor is all but worth it. To show my appreciation, I told him I'll let people know about him, after all, he is a starving student. :)

His contact info.........

If you call him, tell him audiguy from the forums sent you.

See you guys around on this site.

about 350 for all the parts alone, and then 300 for labor "from a FRIEND".
dunno about that!

way waaaaaay better than stealership though.

should have done it yourself IMO!

Uh, I actually purchase the timing belt kit from ECS tuning for $240. He installed my timing belt, both tensioners, and water pump. Totalled out to be $540 for everything. I didn't want to tackle such job without having the right tools, time, or knowledge. I do do my own oil changes, but that doesn't even compare to a timing belt job.

If anyone is interested in having some work done, just give him a ring. Maybe he can chime in on this thread since he did recommend me to this forum. This thread doesn't benefit me in any way. I just thought I'd help him out.........whether it be him or the forum. Every penny saved is another penny for mods. :)

Mods are useless if your car doesnt work because the maintenace you had done to it wasnt done right....

Just my $.02 w/ a rebate

I see you've found this site Andy. Thanks for posting this thread for me. :)

Hi guys. Yes, I do timing belt jobs for $300 labor. I also do any other jobs for cheap as well. I don't do this for a living, as I go to school full time. I've just been wrenching on cars for years and years as a hobby, so it's nothing new to me. If you opt to do work yourself, more power to you, if not, cheap labor can be had, you just have to know people.

Thanks again Andy.

Do I sense sarcasm? Just because someone didn't want to pay high dealership labor prices, doesn't mean he'll get any less service somewhere else. I totally agree with you, there are people out there that don't know what there doing when it comes to wrenching, but that doesn't apply here. I admit, I'm limited to what I can do, but your comment is worth as much as your $.02, USELESS.

lets not start any bashing

just remember working out of garage is different then a business

we got plenty of mechanic's on the site that can help people out with maintanence and repair from their home garage, liem doing side jobs is fine

but always remember there is a difference when it comes to running a business in regards to warranty and insurance, blah blah blah when things go wrong

Bugzy, I understand where your coming from and I apologize if I came off the wrong way. The last thing I want to do is to steal someone elses business, after all, that's what they do for a living. I, or audiguy, simply wanted to inform everyone that there is a cheaper way to replace your timing belt if your not up to the task yourself. I guess this was the wrong way of going about it, as I only do work as a hobby and not as a living.

Again, I apologize and think it would be best to lock or delete this thread.
