I'm not sure if any of you are as interested in the safety performance of the cars you drive, but I know I am.

Check out the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety website at: http://www.iihs.org/default.html

"The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is an independent, nonprofit, scientific and educational organization dedicated to reducing the losses — deaths, injuries, and property damage — from crashes on the nation's highways."

Click on "Vehicle Ratings" and select your car. It's really cool because they give you a full analysis of their tests for front, side and rear collisions. There are even pictures with full descriptions of injury to the crash test dummies.

I'm happy to know that our MKV GTi and 06 Pathfinder are both highly rated. Safety first!

on a side note, the car I got in a really bad accident in was a 2001 Nissan Frontier Desert runner with the V6, it took a head on hit at 45MPH and the dorrs still opened and closed like they should, frame bent 45 Degrees at the A arms and the motor and trans submarined like they were supposed to. Spun my truck around 180 degrees. According to Nissan, and the body shop, the frame had more metal in it then the then current full size chevy.

I'm surprised. Some of the S4s didn't do so hot.
