doubt the A4 will be a huge difference over the jetta
plus, a 97 would be the sucks

that's all my input, not much of a family man!

Volvo sounds like the deal if you are looking to up-grade space wise and making it with 7k

kids on the way? $7k to spend?

get a camry or an accord.

call it a day.

(PS: an A4's rear seat is no bigger than a jetta's)

You have been in the desert too long Mel, a Mini has a tiny back seat, smaller than his current Jetta and is WAY over the $7K range.

I would suggest as Mario has, any $7K euro will cost you in the long run in upkeep. I would suggest also an Accord or Camry, Altima, etc. Something all you will have to do is put gas in it and go.

'xactly. . . with kids, the money is likely going to go almost all to them . . . no sense in doing a $1000 repair in an 11 year-old car (which the A4 will in all likelihood need).

our 200 camry has had about $450 in "repairs" ever (including a new set of tires!)

the only problem is im not really into camery's or accords. yes they last along time but not into the car at all. i think im going to look for a volvo s70 and just put some nice rims and tint on and that would be it

Passat is not much bigger than the jetta you will be replacing.

When we were looking at the Passat it seemed more roomy for car seats (I got two little ones now).
I'd rule out the A4 as well, same back seat space as the Jetta.

We had an 05 Altima that was pretty comfy. I'm 6ft tall and had no problems riding or driving with the car seat behind me. Prolly over 7k, but I think the chassis is the same down to 2003.

yeah thats what i was thinking of the passat. seems like it has room in the back for car seats with no problem. i'll look into the altima's and see how they are
