considering 6L S/C 525hp and the fact, i think the new Camaro SS actually looks nice .... not bad

but $40k is getting pricey if you ask me ... but i guess its got some balls to keep it high

Well I built a new Challenger online and it came out to 40, but it starts a 37K and the only add on was small stuff, I would do a base SS for $30K, If it holds true, I may sit on my car for a little while longer.

Those are some impressive specs. 310hp V6 is a nice option but I would go for the SS at around 30k

Wait, did I read that right? The Z28 is top dog over the SS with 525HP or is that probably a typo? Either way, $40K isn't bad for a 525 HP car with a warranty, I wonder if the HP is rated like the old days, yeah, it makes 525HP somewhere in the power band, and probably more other places...

The Z28>SS kinda got me off guard too so we shall see ~ either way it's crazy what cams, smaller pulley, proper cooling and a tune could yield
*besides 4mpg

gahhh i still need to restore my 79!

525hp for 40k is a much better deal than the Shelby GT 500

Is it independent rear suspension? Or did they put a solid axle out back?

True on the 4400lbs, jesus christo!!!!!!!!! Is it pregnant with one of those Aveos'????

That's a good price for a 525 hp car.

But remember, the JEEP SRT-8 weighs that much with 420 hp and it still is fast as nutts.

I'd rock a Camaro over a Mustang any day! The Challenger is tugging at my heart strings too, but it only comes w/ auto tranny in the first year.

i would wait for the challenger after the first year and get the 6 speed srt-8 i like it over that camero and mustang.

VW went wrong in a ton of places.....that and the VR6 is not a V6

has alot to do with the small size of VWs pistons and cylinder volume

well if u look at the G37,g35,350z and many new v6 vehicles including some family vehicle are getting closer to that 300hp range. i also believe the vr6 is closer to a inline 6 then a v6 according to the previous post above mines

The VR6 is a V6, its a 15degree V6, narrow enough to be compact and use a single head and in the small MK3/Corrado engine bay. Its an old design thats inefficient , thats the reason it lacks power, the reason most likely the the new R32's are still sitting on the lot, they are priced over 30K but don't have the power to keep up with cars in the same price range. Even the 3.6 VR6 is 280 HP Lexus is at 305 and Infinity at 300 something.

the VR6 is not a V6, a V6 needs two heads, the VR6 is more in the lines of a straight 6, but way less efficient

Looks Sik...but I wish they'd throw in some killer leather seats for that much money.

A Mustang GT can be had for about 25K now a days, I dont think that 40K price tag will last much longer than a year - once everyone buys up one the second it comes out cause they HAVE to have it. Most people I talk to in my world that want that car and the Challenger are 35 and up.

The new challenger will get bought up fast - I attempted to put my name on the list for one and the stealership wanted 5K in cash up front right off the bat and then I had to go on a list I would have been #15 at the time and this was back in Janurary.

I would wait a year till after all the hype dies down and the price drops - besides most 1st year cars end up having some kind of a recall notice on them - GM is notorious for it - hell Ford just issued a HUGE recall on the 05-08 Mustang's for issues with air bag deployment.

Figures GM would do to the Camaro what they did to the GTO - Price it out of the reach of the typical 18-25yr olds that want to buy the car. Hell with the average wage being what it is anyone below the age of 30 might not be able to afford a car at 40K - or a truck for that matter .......add in the price of gas...what the cost of food has become lately....im buying a dam 4 banger MKIII Cab next

I can't wait to see the Challenger when it gets here. If it looks anything like the prototype I'd hit it.
