It didn't have widened fenders, not sure if it was a GT. I think it was just a Coupe.
I just spotted it out while sitting at a red light, wish I was in the Corrado, thing looked fairly mint. Was really nice. It was coming out of a shopping center and turned left heading west on Florida Avenue (Hwy 74).
What is the upkeep on these?
Looked like this, just red:

Most all were coupe GT's only the first year without (rear wing) was called just a coupe I think 1981 and they are front wheel drive only in the US.
The same body style with the bulged fenders were all wheel drive with a turbo they were called Turbo Quattro coupes or UR Quattros and are extremely hard to find unless you have big bucks!
If you want a quattro You should go with the Audi 4000 but that has 4 doors and a trunk.
There are still alot of parts to be had at wrecking yards around San Diego or my Garage!:D:D:D

Yeah, i'm not to knowledgeable on the Audi coupes and was trying to figure out if it was a coupe, coupe GT, or a quattro. But yeah, that clears it up. It definitely had a wing, so it had to be a Coupe GT.
I do know what a URQ is, so I knew it wasn't a URQ or I would've done something stupid like make a u-turn from the right turn lane and follow him just to say cool car.
But yeah, I love the style of these, the Scirocco II reminds me of them and vice versa, I just think of the Coupe GTs as a more sporty and better performing Scirocco II.
With that said, from your experience owning a Coupe GT (and I guess a URQ?) What would you think is more easier to maintain, a Scirocco I/II or a Coupe GT?
Its hard to say on that one?
I would say there are a lot more motor options available for the Scirocco II but the coupe GT you just dont see a lot of them on the road anymore?
I am sure that didnt help at all.....
The VW is 4 banger and the Audi is a 5
