so about two days ago my radio died and it pissed me off greatly. but i've been thinking... what do i actually use my stereo for? well sirius and my ipod. and recently i haven't been too much into the sirius.
since my radio is dead and i don't really want to buy a new one i've been thinking about just having a headphone jack that goes straight into the amps for my ipod. has anyone seen anything like this or done anything like this?
I'm considering buying an EQ that i would put in the dash (instead of a headunit) and have that adjust the sound/volume and just play from the ipod. what do you guys think?

i should also note that ideas for mounting the ipod in the dash somewhere are not only welcomed but needed. i don't have a problem with the wiring but i don't just want a wire hanging out.

This is basically what the guys with the car pc setups do. They just go from their soundcard to the amp.
You just have to watch out that you don't overdrive your amp. Headphone output is not the same as line level output.

That was a nice setup that dude made, but I would feel like a major tool driving aroung with a glowing Apple logo.

X2!
I could never do that. It seems like such a ricer/asshat thing. But it's still awesome

I didn't mean the apple logo, just the integration of his iPod into the car. Keeping a close to factory look/functionality while adding the iPod into the car is what i'm trying to acomplish and I liked the process and ideas that he came up with for his. I am by far not talented enough to do anything like that. I'm still trying to find a way to have a dock stash away in my dash below the EQ i'm looking for.
