I always like the AEM CAI. It's nice because you can get the fitting to protect from water if you like.

i used a k&n panel filter.
but i heard ITG's foam filter works just as well without the oil

I think you mean modded box? its basically the same thing but i heard drilling holes in the base of the box is bad:tdown:

Its what i did but without the bumper vents:tup2:....

posts #12 and 19 pretty much summ it up.

but if you dont wanna use the stock box, ive heard teh Evolution mototrsport V-flo (stg 2) is very good on Mk4s:tup:

but of couirse you cant go wrong with AEM or Injen:tup2:

its just a filter with a straw attached any way you put it.
its all on how much you want to spend

Not true. Many are CLOSE, but not the same. The piping does make a difference, although if not combined with other things, it's negligible

what about EVOMS V-Flow?

There is an extensive post with dyno sheets comparing different intakes on the R32, over in the vortex R32 forum FAQs.

Cold air intakes work to actually make power on the R32: Carbonio, GHL, AEM, and EIP intakes all added 18+ hp at the wheels over the stock intake, without doing any other mods. Other CAI's made power, but not as much.

All the short ram intakes lost power over the stock airbox. If you don't want to do a CAI, just do a K+N drop in filter for the 5 hp gain, and be done with it.

btw from my own experience tuning, and this seems to be especially true with the R32 CAI's, the intake will make power as long as it has at least 6" of straight pipe in front of the MAF before you have a filter or bend in the pipe. There is an ideal volume and diameter for the pipe to make max power, and if you have piping just too large, too short, too long, it misses out on the resonance that gives it the velocity stacking effect to make power.
