i really need an SLR

there is lightning off the coast and i have a perfect view of it....but my digital camera is too fucking slow, i too like 40 pics and didnt catch any of it

lightning is next to impossible to catch. Your best bet is to put it on 30 second exposures with a super small apature (f2.8 or so), and right after the lightning strikes, cover the lens with a hat or something similar so you don't get excessive light pollution.
