I could do it my self but I'm lazy.. any places make it worth the cost compared to just buying the oil and filter and spending a few minutes?

Unless u wanna go to Wal-Mart.. it's prolly worth hooking it up in your driveway.

i get mine changed at the dealer, it ends up being more cost effective for me. usually its around $40 and a basic visual inspection along with a complimentary wash. it cost more than that to gather supplies for one. only drawback, i have to do without the car for a while. thats why i drop it off before work and pick it up when im off.

It's what, 6 bucks per oil and I need 4 of em so 24 bucks there and what... 10, maybe? on the filter. So about 35 dollars to do it my self right?

I got it done at some place when I first got it just to get it done but I thought it was too much.. it's time again so I was wondering if anyone had any advice.

What oil do you use? Is that per Qt?

I did go through a lazy stage, and I used to take my cars to Midas. I trusted the guys up at the one just off Pico in San Clemente, next to the post office.

I think it was about $40 or less for the Jetta. Add $20 for full synthetic.

well for those times you get lazy, as least spend the extra green and get some good oil, and take it to jiffy or something like that and have them do the labor...i know walmart has mobil 1 for like 20bucks for the 5qt bottle, or maybe pick up some royal purple, or motul or something good

your all lucky people ;)

only oil recommend for the E39 M5 is Castrol TWS (10W60) which is only sold at dealership
$8.70 qt at hook up price at dealership

8L needed for the 4.9L M5 motor
and the filter is about $9

So its about $90+ for supplies for the damn M5 for oil change

I've never actually bought oil for this car yet, I plan on changing the oil this weekend and I am trying to gather data

Probably pricing for regular oil vs. synthetic

my bitch uses 6.5qts of synthetic ~ I don't routinely get it changed at the same place... I've only done it once myself ~ but between pepboys, my uncle, and a random shop my cousin sent me to I usually get them done for $10-15 or free + $50 for my oil and filter

I hear you.

If you can secure a loaner car to drive for one day, you can ask about dropping your car off at the end of the day for the next day (they park your car inside the bay) or early the morning of (drop your keys thru the door slot), and then pick it up at the end of the day of the appointment. They are usually pretty good about having you give them a card to run and will leave the receipt for you to sign in your car. Then you just drop the slip thru the door to pay.

My uncle did my oil pan yesterday he used to work @ pboys ~ he did my tie rod end a couple years ago too so if you want some small stuff done like oil change or replacing stuff you can PM me; he lives in costa mesa right up the hill off hamilton/brookhurst and he can do it afternoons or weekends in the driveway

He'd probably change the oil for $10-20 but pepboys does it for $18 ~
