Been talking with a good buddy of mine who likes to throw around his money...anything he feels like he wants he gets into it pretty bad. He used to collect Gems, then gold coins, he got into paint balling and bought like a 50cal auto paint machine gun...lol You get the picture I'm sure.
Well he recently got into photography and has a Nikon D3 with all kinds of glass and whatever the flavor is for that month he'll pick it up. I asked him what his thoughts on a portable studio were and what he'd get. He told me he had one and If I wanted to use it I could.
Well he brought me some stuff over to my lab at work today. 2 stands, 2 60inch umbrellas, and 2 20" umbrellas. A bunch of books on lighting, 2 sb800's an SU-800 which I don't think I need as my cam has a commander feature. Some sheet of colored checkered paper which he told me was good for white balance checking??? And some Grey sheet of paper as well, assorted soft boxes, a bar that goes under my camera and holds a flash over the top and can swivel all directions. Oh and a couple of AF NIKKOR prime lenses he said are cracking glass for portraits, an 85mm and a 35mm.
I'm a pretty happy camper. So I'm kinda hoping he gets over the photography gig and gives me good prices...but if not he said he'd let me know If he needs the gear but doesn't see needing it in the immediate future.
Guess I'm about to get hooked on portraiture again...only with real lighting. Now to buy some backdrop material...some props maybe.
