Does anyone know of any solvents or anything to remove caliper paint on alloy rims? The reason I am asking is because the previous owner had painted the front brake calipers black and just recently, it started to show up on the rims. Thanks

How exactly is it getting from the caliper to the wheel? If it's black, are you sure it isn't brake dust?

If it is actual caliper paint, it is going to be pretty hard to get off. The good stuff is actually more like an epoxy than actual paint. I am not sure a solvent is going to pull it off without damaging the wheel's finish. you might be able to try some polishing compound, but like I said, you may end taking the powder coat off the wheel.

I'm sure its caliper paint because its sort of hard to remove off the rim and the caliper is starting to turn blue lol.. I started to use brake degreaser and engine degreaser by spraying it on a towel then wiping the rim and it does come off, but with a good amount of effort

i would just do what your doing. same thing happened to my friends an just the other weekend we did the same thing. ended up just going at it with some heavy duty oven cleaner. took like 15 minutes per rim but it worked.

Thanks guys, I was able to just use some citrus engine degreaser mixed in with some water and the paint came off.

its brake dust, it has to be, there is no way paint is gonna transfer to the wheels once it dried without physical contact
