I had a PDF that i needed to extract/copy the text from. I was trying at work but just had the reader so I wasnt able to. Co-worker walks by and insist that what im trying to do is impossible. I tell him I've done it in the past but cant with this version of acrobat, he then goes into how its scanned in as a picture and its impossible to do it. I then just smile and nod and semi agree. Guess what...I had no problems extracting the text from it like I have always done in the past.
This guy a few weeks ago insisted that we cant pull a report from our CRM software. I needed a report of all the accounts and who it belonged to. He insisted that we cant do it and in order for us to figure which account belonged to you, he would have to go into each account one by one and find out manually.
I believed him for a day or two and thought that does not make any sense at all and did some snooping and figured out how to run the query.
How the fuck do you work/deal with people like that?

I do it like this.
Agree with everything they say and then still do it MY way.
Otherwise I ignore them.

Pretty much what I have been doing...but I still get hella irritated. I get like that when I know im right but people still think they know it all. I need to learn to let it go. I dont claim to know everything, thats why I go about everything with an open mind and try to learn something new.

Plus there is the whole GAME aspect of it. Figure out what bugs them, then do it. Dont let them know what gets under your skin. They give up eventually and you win. The best way to defeat them is with cold hard FACTS. When they cant bullshit their way thru a conversation, you win.
I do it everyday.

You don't deal with them. You fire them. He lacks the skills to do his job.
I'm expected to know stuff waaaay outside and beyond my title to keep my job. It always amazes me when I meet other "professionals" that couldn't find their ass with two hands.

"Are you serious? How long have you been doing this job for anyways?" That's what I always use. It makes people feel bad, especially in sales or marketing.
