We got an advertisement for foreclosure bus tours. They actually have bus tours to go around and show you areas you might want to invest in by buying up foreclosed properties. One of the tours is Rancho Bernardo. Maybe they'll have a special and show you all the burnt houses too.

That is an interesting idea to say the least. I imagine that tour bus heads up to Temecula, Escondido and Murrietta as well. I was up at my wifes cousins in Temecula not too long ago and there were 4 foreclosures on one street.

Crows in RB? :ha: (oh, you don't mean the noisy black birds)
Tony, there are about 5 places for sale in my neighborhood. People were traumatized by the fire and don't want to rebuild. They want a fresh start...so they're moving into the Trails. Wait...what?
PM me (or post, if you want) with how much you want to spend. And you want a house, right? Jen and I spent a lot of time looking around RB, so we kind of know the prices all over the place, although I'm sure you do too.

They should include Tent City as part of the tour.
If anyone wants monthly home sale price averages by zip, you can use this look up:
http://www.melissadata.com/lists/ezlists/ezHomeowners.aspx?zip=92663
Crazy, my zip's average purchase price over $1mil, even peaking 2mil in the last few mos.

It's not a "foreclosure tour", it's an "opportunity tour!"

The market is great for buyers! I just bought a really nice 2259sf house that was built in 2004 on a Short Sale for $116k less than the previous owner bought it for!

We're looking in Ramona. I want some land. We're just concerned with the schools out there.
For those that haven't noticed, I listen to a lot of country music and have an unhealthy fascination with owning a tractor.
The problem is that the people around us are bailing without so much as a parachute and they are just destroying the property values. So our timing may not be exactly what I would like depending on the potential purchase of a practice for Susan.

By the way, we still get that tour...every day. But now they're looking at slabs and footings. If you want to see a partially built house, go look at a new neighborhood where ALL the houses are partially built. I can't count the number of people I have had to kick off my neighbors' properties. They just park in the middle of the street, get out with their cameras, and wander across someone's lot. I stopped a goth-looking couple, who said they were headed to the canyon. They ware walking across the lot with lawn chairs and coolers. It would have been funny to see the owner (who is now living in the house next door) come out and say "Get off my property!"
I think the people stopping their cars in the middle of the street are the worst, though.
But I wouldn't doubt that someone tried to rent a bus to make cash off the fires.

If you have Cox, turn on that stupid local real estate channel, they advertise it on there.

There is a real estate office near my hair salon in Hillcrest with a huge sign for foreclosure bus tours... I think they have a website www.foreclosuretours.com
It is pretty tacky, but most saw this coming. One might say that the forclosures need to be bought up before the market can swing up again.
Tony, maybe you can leverage your condo as a rental property when you go for your single family home in Ramona?
Rob and I? We're leaving the country...

We're looking into going (back) to Scotland... We've always *joked* about it, but it's becoming more and more of an option. I should be able to find a very well-paid job out there and Rob can do something fun for a living. We've already got some property. And we'd both prefer to raise our child there... It's all dependent on several factors, so we'll see how the next few years goes for us here...

A friend of mine did the exact same.......but got it for $105K less than the previous owner. CRAZY!
Wow, crazy. Erin and i are going to sit tight right now, thought about buying another place and renting mine out, but with her being a full time student, we think its best to wait a few more years before we start collecting rental properties since we aren't sure we are going to stay here in Cali, and as mentioned earlier, maybe this country.

I just scoped some prices in Julian a couple weeks ago. There is some real bangin deals out there. To get land in Ramona, you will either have to have some bare ass piece of shit in town that is probably zoned for multi-family, or an expensive ass horse ranch outside of town. The deals in Julian seemed really good and it is only another 15 minutes or so.

The NW Ambassador told me about this. It sounds so freaky - I think I'd be a little confused if I saw it. Make my knees knock for sure if I weren't on safe ground with my house! Any take any photos of one of these thigns goign around a neighborhood? Freaky weird.
