Hey guys-
Well I got myself a new jobby which requires me to carry clothing lines around. So that means I need a bigger car (and I just bought my GLI ). Just interested in what Socaleuro would buy in this situation. I narrowed my choices down to a Subaru LGT wagon, or a Touareg. I'm leaning towards the wagon (which will make me the ownder of two Subaru wagons...). It needs to be somewhat good on gas, and reliable (which is why the Touareg is choice #2 as of now). Let me know your thoughts!

selling the jetta?????
HahaTed! I was actually going to PM you cause I know you're looking for one. It's looking like I'll have to sell it. It's not set in stone, but pretty close. I was hoping to get a third car, but logistically and financially it doesn't make sense. The wife doesn't want to sell her WRX Wagon (of which I owe DOUBLE on compared to the GLI ) . If I can convince her to sell the WRX, then I'll get a new car, and she will drive the GLI.
You want to buy it?

The 2009 Volkswagen Touareg 2 is one of my top three picks of SUVs/Trucks to buy....
But the Tribeca is my top pick for the Subaru.

I say go for the LGT wagon.

Do you plan on towing anything???
What about offroading??
If not then go for the legacy GT because gas/service will kill you.

No towing and no offroading. Just need space.

:( then go with the legacy...... *sheds a tear*
when a boeing 747 lands in your driveway and your late for work because your LEGACY couldnt tow it out of the way, we'll know which one you REALLY should have picked.

The new Jetta Sportwagen is supposed to be out shortly.
How about the Passat wagon.
..any engine...2.0t, v6, tdi...
or an audi Allroad, A4, A6/S6, Avant?
I love my dubs, but have to go with the Subie on this for fuel economy, reliability, value, not to mention resale value................

i know people will kill me for saying this but if space is what you need why not a minivan? no rude comments!! If you're totting clothing around... they get great mileage relatively cheap, lots of space.
dodge just released their new minivan, VW will bring theirs out soon (not to mention the eurovan), honda makes some really reliable vans (although if you buy a honda you won't hear the end of it from me). Obviously avoid the full size chevys, ford and dodge vans. although the e-250 diesel isn't a bad idea. that's just my $.02
of the two you are looking at i would say the subi; better mileage of the two and the resale will be worth it.

that might be a little big. however they can move. A good friend of mine here is an exchange student from Germany and she's been telling me that these in a diesel will hit 200 km/hr (125mph). She's been scared a few times by them.

That has happened to me twice. But what are the odds that it would happen a third time?
LEGACY.

I've thought about the Passat wagon...that's actually one of my choices. But how does the space compare to the A4? I feel like the A4's are too small (and reliability could be an issue). A6 Avant's are sick, but rare and a bit expensive. I'm looking for used cars, somewhere around $20,000ish

You actually have a valid point. A lot of reps use mini vans because the cargo space is unmatched. Many have told me to consider it, especially considering the MPG and cost...I just don't think I could EVER drive one :)

WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME!!! :hitit: That's what I'm talking about. A little stage 2 grocery getter ;)
I will have to take a good look at the LGT's to make sure they have the space I need. I might need something bigger than that. But I'm sure you guys can understand my dilema. I don't want to bend over and drive some POS that has no soul and that I could give a S@#T about. You know?

What about a small pick up truck? Like the Toyota Tacoma. They are easy to drive, Toyota reliability, spacious, offroadable and good mileage.

Any reason to buy a new car is always a good thing. Though, I have to ask - what is it you do that you have to carry clothing lines around? Sounds interesting. Good luck with the new car purchase.

just curious, is the legacy wagon the same as the outback? carmax says so, and i couldn't find a "legacy wagon" on subaru's website. my folks are looking for a sporty wagon (leaning towards the passat 3.6) and the legacy wagon looks rad

They don't make the Legacy wagon anymore. And yes, it's the same size as the Legacy Outback.
