It was 106 yesterday, and my car was a sluggish beast. I got the car chipped apr stage 1 over the winter, and havent really used the car in extreme heat yet, but yesterday I noticed an enormous loss of power the hotter the day got. I garaged it for 4 hours and drove at night and it was the difference of two worlds.
I wasnt planning on upgrading my IC until i got a bigger turbo, but i guess i might have to living in the desert. I might install an s4 wheelwell liner this weekend to attempt to get more air to the IC. does anyone else have any suggestions.
Thats normal, my GLI 2.0T was running sluggish in the 100 degree heat too and I have the GIAC-X, all turbo cars loose some power in hot ass heat, no matter how big of an intercooler you have or chip.

Hmm, Normal pisses me off. oh well I guess i could move to alaska and not have this problem
Then you would have to use Quattro more often................ I don't know what the highest temp in Germany is, but I doubt they see 106............ plus with our shitty gas, the ECU backs off the timing to prevent detonation, which makes it even worse. Just be glad you don't own a 335

I think that may be the only time I will ever hear, "Just be glad you dont own a 335."
Believe me on that one, I have several patients right now, one on my rack for wastegates and lifters, on fuel pump #3. There intercooler is smaller than ours believe it or not, for two turbos, more power, and another liter of displacement................

FMIC will fix your issue and you will notice a huge difference. I plan on getting one this summer. I notice my APR 1+ does the same and it blows!

Just remembered I think they only make units for the B6, what do you have?

Some guys on Audizine have installed these and with good results. They fit in the stock location so perfect for the stealth look.

I drive a B6.

My other thought would be to sleeve/insulate the turbo and dp to hopefully push more heat out the exhaust and not have it radiating only inches from my intercooler?
can anyone point me to a local place that sells exhaust/header tape wrap?
If not i am just going to order it and wait.
:tup2:
In addition to that retrofitting a S4 wheel well liner into the A4

Do you think this will help at all? I know it isnt a permanent fix, but I need a month to get the $$$ for a new IC among all the other stuff I have been putting off until my job started

Vents in the fender liners do help and I would trust them more from a reliability point of view than the additional heat you are going to trap in your turbo wrapping your exhaust.
BTW...
You can just drill a nice looking pattern of holes with a hole saw into the fender liner and cover the back side with metal mesh for cheap if you can't find a fender liner to cut up for cheap.

ok well maybe not insulating the turbo itself but the downpipe should stop heat from radiating from it. If the peanut gallery sez no on the insulation then i wont do it, It was just a thought.
I thought about drilling the holes and going that route, but i can get wheel well liner for 50 bucks tops

I think this is just prolonging the situation and you won't notice much of a difference on the hotter days IMHO.

Snow Performance w/m injection! $400 and it will help IAT's as well as keep our engines from pulling timing (it raises the octane).

I don't run one, but I plan to in the future. The only problem is that you have to keep it filled.
