Hello folks,
I rented the new gran Turismo Prologue at blockbuster this past week. I like the game so far (It would be much better to play with the steering wheel) but I wanted to ask you all a question. I have been out of the video game lingo for quite a while, but I do remember that on the PS2 you could actually modify the vehicles (correct me if im wrong) by adding turbo, exhaust, brakes, etc to make your car faster. I dont seem to be able to do that in the new GT_prologue. Any input would be appreciated.:smokem:
You have to complete the events in all 3 classes (A,B,C) first. Then you can modify the cars. I still haven't completed everything either.
BTW, the wheel does make a HUGE difference.......for me anyway. Now all I need is a "cockpit" setup and it will be complete.

This is true but not in the sense that I remember. There is no buying mods/parts for the car. When you clear all 3 classes you are given the quick tune option before a race. In the quick tune option you turn dials to adjust various performance aspects. Power, weight, aerodynamics, damper, height, etc. For a "driving simulator" I don't think thats very realistic. Theres a lot about Prologue that I'm disappointed in, tuning being one of them. I hope they make lots of changes before GT5 is released.
I don't remember, did GT4 have parts or did it have the dials too?
Other gripes are online play and having to buy specific cars to complete the classes(although IIRC the last 2 or 3 GT's had this too).
Oh, and the s class is nearly impossible. You have to drive perfect to place.
I give it :cool::cool::cool: out of 5
Its a rental

In class B I cant for the life of me place in the event that you have to use the Integra Type R and make up 13 places (to finish in 3rd) in one lap!!!!

prologue is simply a taste of whats to come in gt5, not intended to be a full on game, more of a big demo with a retail price... ergo the lack of options. but from reads here and there you probably be able to keep said demo and purchase everything else separately.

i don't think you're able to modify anything in prologue. iirc, prologue is basically a gigantic demo to tide us all over while all the finishing touches on gt5 are made. i got it last weekend in the mail, and it's awesome. i can't wait til the full version comes out. but i haven't beat it yet either, so don't quote me on whether or not you can make modifications. we shall see...

It is possible to "mod" in quick tune mode. It's just not in the sense that you purchase upgrades for your car. You can simply turn a dial(really slide a bar) to increase HP or decrease weight etc.

He's right... I have a friend who used to work at GameStop, we still drop in there every other day still if not every other day. Which in turn we get quite a bit of good info before anyone else gets it.
This is practically a demo... Notice the $40 price? The full game will cost around $60 and more than likely you'll get to purchase stuff for the car like in Forza 2... If not, that's a retarded move.

gt5 has no release date as of yet, but gt5 prologue will be adding new cars every so often.
those guys at polyphony are doing so extensive work on modeling the cars too.
also the top gear test track is going to be/is in the game
