im tired of transfering slow crap to my ipod.

what gen ipod do you have? and not it shouldn't matter.

The reason i ask is that apple stopped making the ipods firewire capable starting with the 5th generation (the video ipods)

i got the first gen of mini ipod.
and im also looking forward to use it with a portable harddrive.

with portable hard drives i personally haven't seen firewire capable ones that don't require outside power. if you get a portable one you're going to have to get it in USB. for the ipod, if you go to apple's store you can click on the firewire cable accessory and it will tell you which ipods it works with.
