i've been in twice. the first time was just to check it out and the second time was to see if they had any job openings. the first time they weren't too enthusiastic about me just "checking out the cars". they weren't rude, but i could tell they didn't really give a shit that i was there because i wasn't trying to buy anything. the second time i asked for a referral to a good painter in the area for my valences and grill (valences are still black, but i diy'ed the grill :D) and they weren't too helpful at all. then i asked if they could use someone with good shipping/packing experience and they just kind of smiled and said "we aren't hiring anyone right now". they seem kind of smug and pretty high brow...

ditto.
i went in there twice.
and yet i felt both times like i wasnt welcome unless i was spending money.

there aint much to look at there anyway. you walk in and theres like 20 small items in a display case. my experiences with them as a paying customer were about the same. i personally dont care for abd's own line of product (they fit very poor)

1st time, i was just looking and it took 5 minutes (or more) before i was greeted. which is usually how it is anyways. when i was greeted, i felt unwelcomed.

i made a purchase for:
supersprint exhaust - 1 month and 2 or 3 weeks to arrive to their shop.

abd CAI LAN Pipe - 5 months

GIAC software (P-Chip) - i had to leave my car and it took 5 days because they had to "send my ecu out". i had already previously paid for the p-chip with labor. i was never told about this prior to me leaving my car till the next day after i left my car. apparently they only have stuff available on site for 1.8ts engines.

blue caliper paint - took 3 months.

Brembo cross-drilled rotors - 4 months (almost 5)

ABD rear swaybar - the only thing that is ever kept in stock.

i also tried to order smoked bumper markers which are never ever ever in stock and are always on backorder. it was $30 for just the bumper markers by themselves.

all in all, i have never went back and wont ever. i have never referred anyone either. i had purchased everything listed above on the same order and only received one call back about my order. only because i threatened to cancel and request refund for the parts that took 5 months.

its funny that all us know to stay away from them but ever so often theirs like 3-4 ABD reping dubs around riverside that are all decked out in plate frames, windsheild sitckers etc....if only they knew..they even offered me a grip of stickers to put on the car (actually they had already put a few on when i was their for my coilovers, and i was like wtf um no take it off) especially if im not gonna get a discount for it

Ive been there once. And got the same treatment and vibe as you guys. Stand off-ish attitude and a very unwelcoming atmosphere.

And they're product is WAY overpriced anyways. Just that alone kept me away. I've also heard of poor fitment issues w/ their products.

ABD is definitely not worth anyones time or money.

I've never used any of their products, but I do know the owner's brother. They come from a very wealthy family, so maybe that's gone to their heads when making "high end" products?

I don't know what the hell everyone is talking about i have been dealing with abd for 4 years now and everytime i go there the environment is cool and relax, and i have never had a fitment issue. Adrian is always helpful to guide me in the right way to do things, and he doesn't dis people or give an attitude to people cuz i have been there plenty of times to witness it. And chris there tech is a cool ass dude always willing to help if you don't have enough money for install. The only issue they have is Jason the owner, he has fucked up things, when Dave was the owner they didn't have that problem. I mean come on ABD has built some of the sickest dubs around, and there sometimes first in the vw world to come up with parts for our cars. U all need to cut them some slak. Lastly as far as prices for them there pricey because you get what you pay for, i don't know about you but i don't want parts that are cheaply made!!!

Basically if you got money to mod without having to pinch your wallet tight then i believe ABD is great.

for the people who like to save every penny when modding abd is not a good place to purchase parts ( not saying that saving money is a bad thing )

Abd has "YEAAARRRS" of knowledge, i would trust them with any of my vehicles even if i gotta cough up a few extra dollars :tup2:

You're one of the lucky ones. Congrats.
Even thou they're product is overpriced, the reputation they used to have about good quality parts made me go check em out anyways.

I had cash in hand to purchase one of their overpriced CAIs, and the vibe and treatment I recieve made me go elsewhere.
Its cool that you get good service from them, but unfortunately the other 10 or 12 of us, if not more didnt get good service.
If we all are having the same problem, its obvious that ABD needs to work on there customer service.

Me too kids...I called them one day and asked if they had the L.A.N Pipe for my GLI and Adrian told me they had 4 in stock. So i drive my happy ass to riverside to pick it up get there to find out that what they had in stock was only the pipe. No Filter, no breather filter. So i was like F-it...just give me the pipe. They told me the filter's was coming in that weekend. That was early December, Febuary 18th I was going home on leave and taking the GLI back to Florida for good. Still...no filters. So i called and just asked them for the product number they gave it to me and hung up the phone. I went to Auto Zone and ordered the filter and it was there the next day. Jumped on SCE asked around for help with the install and someone hit me back like..."yeah bring it over...we can knock that shit out" Guy was parting out his Blue GLI. helped with the intake and sent me on my way. Those dudes at ABD are lames. I wont go there for their product's again. yeah I got their intake...but that's about it. That's my story people.

i just don't understand why you all say there ass holes cuz there really not! Since I've known them they treated me good and at one time i was a new customer to. And all these years later there still the same, so what's the difference from me to all of you guys i don't know.

Maybe they pick and chose who they want to help and who they want to give the cold shoulder, who knows?!

If you can figure that out for us, we'd appreciate it....LoL

its not hard to understand......get crappy service, take business elsewhere.

i know some of us have purchased from them and are a small percentage of thier customer base, and i know its nearly impossible to make everyone happy. we just happen to be the ones who weren't impressed with the service/products we recieved. you can defend them all you want, it still doesnt change the fact i wont purchase another part from them again.

When i dealt wth them back in mid '04, its not that there customer service sucked, they just lack it. They tried to bullshit me and jack up the prices on me on a lot of shit. I have no problem paying top dollar, but for that i better get out of this world service and quality for their steep prices. But what do you expect from a shop who is all glamour?

They do people dirty all the time. The worst intake ever made was by ABD. The Big bore for the 2.0 8v!! Another Bad Design, I like that. Anyway, Called them and asked if they had H&R's for an mkv and they said yes. Told them I would pick them up in about an hour or so. Showed up and NOTHING! They said they sold the last set just before I got there. I had to order a set and it took them 2 weeks to get them in. I couldn't believe it.Then my buddy ordered a set of TSW wheels and it took them two months to get them in!!!! He had to go down there and raise hell for them to get the wheels. I heard allot of people say if you don't have some a nice looking car they give you shitty service. I give them :tdown::tdown::tdown::tdown: thumbs down. IMO....
