I am trying to find a cold air intake for my B6 A4. I looked at APR and the only one they have is the Carbonio, which seems really expensive to me. Is the carbon fibre better than a normal aluminum tube intake, or is it just for looks? My other problem is that I can't seem to find any other intake system except for a K&N, which isn't even model specific (and I haven't been very impressed with K&N in the past). Is there any reasonable alternative to the carbonio??

evoms v-flows are the best of the best when it comes to intakes

I may be too tired for web browsing right now. But I don't think evoms makes one for the a-4. I shot them an e-mail, keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for the tip, though.

EVOMS makes an A4 CAI

I didn't see it, I will look again. Kinda out of it -- it's 3 a.m. here

After searching, I should have been more specific, I have a 1.8T, the EVOMS is for the 3.0

Skip the intake; if anything just do a drop-in K&N. Intake won't yield you much more than a dent in your wallet and a tiny bit more noise under the hood. So it'll sound a little bit like you're going faster, but you're not.

If you want more power, unchoke the exhaust or put in a chip. If going the exhaust route, start with downpipes and a high-flow cat--034 Motorsport has good ones. Downpipes will take heat away from the turbo and allow the turbo to spool up quicker. If going the chip route, APR has the best for a B6 1.8.

Disagree entirely. They usually don't come with heat shields so often times they'll end up sucking hotter air than if the original airbox was left in.

EVOMS V-Flow for the MKVs come with 2 heatshields :D

but then again, we're talking about an A4 application.
EVOMS doesn't come with a heatshield?

Pretty sure it doesn't. I believe VAST performance does and SDR Research might have one too.

If I'm wrong and it does come with a heatshield, I still think money is better spent elsewhere like chip or exhaust.

I have a full turbo back exhaust on order from apr and I plan on doing the ECU when I get back from deployment

Ahhh, very nice. It's just that intakes are usually what people think should be the first mod.

Made that mistake a while ago on a VR6. I now have a roommate who knows a lot more than I do. And I have to admit, most people like intakes because they are usually the easiest one.

Right on:tup: I've seen many guys with BT set ups with stock air boxes. There is no real gain from one unless you are going BAT then you have to because you need the space.

a intake is a waste for the 1.8t just put in the k&n drop in and save the money

If anyone is still interested, EVOMS got back to me, they do make a v-flow for the 1.8t, it's not posted on the site, you have to call or e-mail them for it.

K&N and other oiled filters can kill your MAF. Chip, exhaust, downpipe, DV... maybe injectors + injector file if you want some more power. Intakes are completely worthless on a stock-turbo 1.8t.
