Magic: The Gathering anyone?

So like... anyone used to or still do play Magic: The Gathering? I used to back in elementary school bout 8 years ago. However, few of my friends actually still play and collect them.

So yesterday, they started pestering me that I need to play again... After about 8 hours of annoying crap I said fine... So one of em let me borrow his samurai deck for a round or two and I dominated... Like mad. :D

Had my opponent down to 10 before he even had enough lands to draw something down haha. Next round he got me to 18, I got him to 5... He sat there wondering what the hell... And I kept saying: "Just end it already, you won't like my next move, this is just the beginning...." He gets pissed off, kills one of my cards off and I just laugh.

Threw down a card that doesn't allow the opponent to block w/ less than 3 cards. He looked at the card and got pissed, I tapped all my cards to attack, bam.. negative 3 lol.

So I rummaged around today and found my old plains/forest deck with my awesome Rhox card :tup:.

Anyone else into/was into Magic?

I think I might start collecting these again and build a ninja or samurai deck of my own...

i played with beta cards in 94.. lost nearly all interest after ice age. now it's just another mainstream card game, built for the kiddies. in the last couple years though, i have thought about playing it, because it was fun. i looked at a tourney deck at the store and i just could not convince myself to start playing again, so i didnt buy it.

The new designs really are more kid friendly though... Mainly the layout of the cards and all the round-ness of it all...

shit i used to play like in 6th grade i think.. maybe 12 years ago?

i sucked, placed last in like 2 tournaments then lost all my ish and started playing with slot cars and N64!

I never got into the POGZ hype... I just wish MTG wasn't so kid oriented anymore... I liked it back when everyone wasn't allowed to play it because their parents thought it was the game that would take you into hell, etc...

I played up until 2000. I started my senior year of high school (Ice Age had just come out), and played all through my jr. college years with a group of friends. Those big cafeteria tables @ grossmont college were awesome for that sort of thing.

I still have all my cards from 4th and 5th editions, and the expansion packs that were available at the time. Last year at Comic-Con I played a couple of games at the Wizards of the Coast booth, and was amazed at how much material has come out for the game in the past 8 years. I'm going to Con all 4 days this year, so I will probably spend some more time at the WOC booth, and maybe even try to get the spouse involved (I've already got her playing Settlers of Catan). :D

I used to trade my old sega genesis games for metal slammers from this kid (i guess his dad used to make them) then i would sell them to to a local comic/card/game shop

BTW, if anyone out there has any MTG TCGs that are like... circa 93-01 I'll buy them off you, I really do not like the new 10th edition much, the designs are so... kiddie oriented...

And than they totally messed up Rhox, that dude was epic... He went from like some crazy dude in armor to either some regular rhino or same art on the kiddy graphics style...
