I am never buying anything from vwvortex again. I've gotten burned twice now. First I bought headlights that broke during shipping that nobody could do anything about. Now I purchased an N75 J valve but recieved an H valve with the part number cut out of it. They guy won't budge and swears it's a J valve. says it comes that way new and that they look exactly the same. what a bunch of BS. :liar::tdown::tdown::mad::bs:

the tex blows when dealing with people from the MKIV crowd. Unless you can deal face to face, avoid buying used. Sorry to hear you got screwed

the mk4 forums blow.. mk2's are alright though. every once in a while there's a prick in there giving people a hard time, but for the most part people are helpful. i got stiffed on my very first paypal transaction. i sent $35 for taillights and they never came -- i called the guy on it and he said he'd look into it and see if there was a problem. that was a week and a half ago, so i filed a claim with pp. hopefully i can resolve it.. i guess i'll have to resort to junkyards now.

The only section of that whole site that is okay to chill in is in the whole Community section, and than for cars, only the Corrado section... Everything else is just retarded with the car lounge in first...

I got burnt once through vortex a few years ago ($300.00 for a "flashed ecm") and paypal would do nothing for me. but also have had plenty of good experiences trhough there. I met quite q few members on there but more on here.

I got burned on the 'tex once for $150 a few years ago, when I had my MKIV. Lately, I have been lucky enough to have gotten everything I have bought used/new off their classifieds.

THINGS TO RESEARCH BEFORE BUYING OFF VORTEX.
-post counts...are they post whores? usually if so they've got time in service

-name brand... this goes with the post count, but if you frequent the 'tex u know whos "well known" and the guys who have new SNs usually have some kind of hint that they've been around either in their signature, location, or personal info.

-get pictures of product...a good rule of thumb is at least 3 pics

-paypal score... before u send the money it shows their email acct along with their seller RATINGS

-lastly RESEARCH!!...if their selling somthing u want, go thru their archived threads, that'll give u a reallllly good impression on how they work and if their legit.

ONE MORE THING...if u dont get it in 5-7days DONT SWEAT IT YET...shit happens stuff gets backed up, i know its happend to me and ive been late on sending stuff out. give the benefit of a doubt.

What ted just said. I got stiffed once for a strut bar, it sucked, paypal ruled in favor of me and I still did not see anything. Ask for ebay user ID's, paypal ID's, etc. I just use the "archived" search tool to see what they've sold, and make sure their legit

as for claims on paypal...thats kinda a case by case scenario.. the only time i ever filed a claim was when i was in iraq and i bought the ipod nano when it first came out. apparently the seller never sent the item (or it got lost) but in anycase i never was able to actually get into contact with him via phone calls or emails. and when i filed the claim PP only gave me back half my funds. and till this day its still an open claim that wont close cuz half the payment is still pending, and they said they can only take funds out of his acct when theirs actually lmoney their...i dont know how that works but yea..

Yeah if you follow those guide lines you should never have a problem. I've bought lots of stuff off the tex never had a problem. If you bought from paypal you should be able to get your money back if you have any type of protection. Even better if you bought your stuff with your credit card through paypal you can call them up and cancel that payment. Works wonders!

+1!! That is the only way I will buy anything from a private party. I am even leary about buying anything off eBay.

I've sold a few things on the 'Tex; 2 sets of headlights, fog lights, an HID kit, etc. Never really had a problem selling. :knock on wood:  I dunno about buying stuff on Vortex, I'd rather buy things locally in person or through a website. There's a few weirdos on the the 'Tex.
