I had this proposal offered to me a few months ago from my aunt and I came to the decision recently to leave California and Move to Arizona. i don't know exacly when i'll be moving, but I'll most definently be moving to Arizona. Could be a few months to a year. We already have a house there just waiting to be filled.
I've spoken to my aunt last night when I was at my dad's house and I asked her if the Arizona offer is still good and she said that it most definently is. So I told her that I would love to move there. She of course sounded happy and excited to hear that from me. She already has a house in Arizona. I plan to go to the community college there and take some art classes before transfering over to a different college.
She offered me a place to stay (duh) and a new car. The other side was to keep my grandmother company. But wether she makes it or not, I'll still be going to Arizona. Different pace, different place. A place to start over.

Arizona is a great place, if you are moving to the phoenix area, try to stay away from south phoenix, there are alot of gangs around there.
its a great place but it is very easy to get into trouble there.

No worries Jeremy, we'll hang out before I leave.
Thanks amber... It would be the best... and like i said before on vixens, i'm going to make sure I don't treat my kids like how my mom treats me sometimes. Verbal/mental abuse is no fun...
The part of phoenix i'm staying will be where the new houses are built and the rich area. I've been to my aunt's (different aunt from this one) house out there and they are huge and beautiful!

All my wifes family lives in Pheonix, they all have what I call rich houses and areas, but they don't really cost that much ;) My wifes cousin had a house built to their specs and they spent under 300K, that same house here would easily be close to a 800K ~ million dollar home
I wish you luck girl

You guys are family to me! I'm never leaving SCE!!!
However, my bunny is the one who's leaving.... LOL
The opportunity was right in my face... a damn good deal too... The downfall is that I know no one out there (except 2 of my aunts and my cousin). I'll probably bug them constantly until i find friends out there. Other downfall, if my grandmother doesn't make it (and I really hope she does make it) I'll be by myself until my aunt retires. So i'll probably ask her if I can have company with me... ya know, a pet or something... hehe

Good luck Pia! And believe me, I think the crazy mother thing might have something to do with our ethnicity or something, because sometimes my mother makes me want to flee the state as well!
I'm sure you will do great in your new surroundings... and AZ has a pretty dope VW scene!

I lived out in Fountain Hills for awhile, a few years back. Great area, and Scottsdale is nice too (pricier than the rest of PHX, but still 50% of what it would be in CA!)...
There's lots of good things out there! And there's enough AZ folks here on SCE to have a few names to talk to when you get out there... and you'll find more fast :) Don't worry!
And if worse comes to worst... well... you're only 5 hours away, and a long weekend trip back is not impossible. Or, a long weekend trip out there for some of us to come visit is not impossible!
Infact, Vegas is still a good mid point ;) How convenient eh??

weekend trips, vacation trip to vegas sounds like fun! haha...
but it all depends on my scheduel and all that fun junk. I'm there basically to take care of my grandmother and keep her company... of course going to school and stuff.
Good luck on you new ventures Pia. Net and I will have to make a trip out there once you get settled in.

as for the weather, I was born in the Philippines... nuff said

Sorry, I got a bit carried away .. didn't mean to insult you, but seriously, why anyone would choose the hottest place in the country over beautiful Southern California is beyond me!
AZ is also gun-crazy, which is very frightening. On the plus side (unless you care at all about the environment), there are virtually no emissions regulations I guess, and no front plates, so you can run a Europlate with no fear. Lots of good roads, and 75mph speed limits too (although the city roads up here are absolutely horrid, and the city speed limits are half that of CA).
And I don't care where you grew up, 120 degrees is NOT normal. There's a ton of Dubbers in the Phx area though (it IS the 5th largest city now) so at least there'll be a scene for ya.
The #1 rule of the Vortex SW forum is "never drive your CAI'd car when its raining" :p
We had flooding up my way (in the mountains) today, I can't imagine how bad the concrete jungle of the valley must have been.

No worries on the insult, everyone has their own opinions... But here's my side of the story:
I know for sure I don't want to move out on my own with having to pay bills and all that fun junk. I'd rather take care of myself first, go to college, land on the best job i could ever get, then move out and have fun taking care of bills and myself. It was an offer given to me by my aunt. Like I said, she plans to retire there. She'll help me get a car, I will have no bills to pay. Someone will take care of me unlike here where I have to take care of myself.

I think its a great opportunity Pia. Best wishes to you out there! You'll learn alot about yourself being there. And that sounds like a good plan. If I had parents or guardians that could afford to take care of me, I sure as hell would have that but unfortunately I do and it has its ups and downs.

same as here for weather...except maybe a bit better if you have sinus problems
and...well...the gun laws there are fantastic...could you imagine the low crime rates.
no one would mess with you...cuz you never know who is packin...not just the criminals anymore like here in CA.

You go for it Pia. This seems to me like a great opportunity for you to get your life back on track, for you. Besides that, it's a good thing to look after the elderly peeps in your family, very good karma!
yeah, AZ is freakishly hot in the summer, oh well. There is a beautiful camping area called Queen Creek about an hour or less outside of Phoenix, a great drive up into the Superstition Mountains, be sure to check that out!
Anyways, best of luck to you! You are young with your whole life ahead of you, LIVE IT! Don't let your mom bring you down.
Cheers,
Julie
