Here are a few of my pics from my latest trip to Kauai. The first 2 are probably the best of them. They were taken on an 8 mile death march on the Na Pali Coast.

Then we've got the Hanakpiai Waterfall. It is not a crooked as my 2nd picture suggests. It empties out into this little pool up in the mountains.

These little flower petals fall and make it look like it snowed purple.

Then there's the rope swing. It's where tourists and drunken sailors go to get more drunken and sunburned.

This was the best shot I could get of the full moon on the beach.

I wish I could leave the shutter open longer. I should probably read the instructions.

great pictures. my advice for night shots: if you haven't already, get a cable release if you can. one of the best (and cheapest) investments i've made.

What is a cable release? The camera is an Olympus compact, so I don't think I can add attachments. I took the pics on the night setting with the timer set so I wasn't touching it. In fact, that's me in the 2nd night one.

The hike itself wasn't that hard. I think we made it to the top in an hour and 40 minutes. On the way down, we were almost running most of the way.
The hardest part is just staying hydrated. But the waterfall, although freezing, felt great in that heat.

The guy who looks like he is about to face plant was one of 2 locals who kept doing "dives" like that. At the last second, he would pull his head and arms down and hit the water so the top half of his body was in a dive. Occasionally, the locals come out and put on a little "show" for the tourists. The two guys that came out on this day were kind of boring and I really wished they would belly flop.
