I know I havn't posted in a while. Too many things happening including my Dad passing away at the young age of 55 last October, and a move up to Kent, WA (outside Seattle). Thank you to those who have kept in touch and helped me in many ways.

But I am having an issue with the GTI right now. For those that don't know, it's a 2002 1.8T.

I was out running an errand and someone let me know that my passenger brake light is out. Luckily enough I had an extra one at the house. When I got home I locked the car went into the house. I came out a few minutes later and used my FOB to release the trunk. I replaced the bulb. I unlocked the car with the FOB and turned on my parking and emergency lights just to check if I had to change anything else while I was in there. Everything was good and I put the bulb tray back in and closed up shop.

When I went to use the FOB to lock the car it wasn't working. I thought maybe it was the FOB, so I grabbed my spare and still nothing. I went to use the key in the door and it locked the doors, but then it immediately unlocked again. I tried using the lock button in the car and I got the same results. And when I close the trunk it is not automatically locking like it supposed to.

Any ideas on what I could of done and how I can fix it? TIA.

New symptom. I cannot control my sun roof or my windows in any way (not with the controls, or turning the key in the lock.

I'm so sorry about your dad Joe. :( I really hope things are going well for you otherwise.

Oh yea, and don't forget to use lube. You will experience less chaffing. :D

Was it a fuse? This happened to my gf's gti as well. Also, sorry to hear about your dad.

The locking was a bad door lock. I had an issue with mine a few months ago (mike might remember me borrowing his 12point sockets)

it was a fuse. Really simple and I should have gone there first
