you don't need chains with AWD

Some mounties make you use them anyway. Don't be surprized.
Directions:
Untangle them and lay them out in front of your tires so you can drive onto the middle of them. Make sure you've laid them out so that you're driving onto the correct (in) side. Move your car forward and then fold them up and fasten them as tight as you can. Make sure they're secure (tug on em)
pretty easy.
Don't think you'll be speeding with those things on.

front wheelsthat wont screw up the transfer case?
chains + a4 = bad. likely it will hit the suspension components/upright/arm and do damage. DO NOT USE CHAINS! read your manual. They may require that you carry chains, so just have them in the trunk.

According to this (http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/roadinfo/wntrdriv.htm), chains are only required on a vehicle that is not equipped with 4 or all wheel drive and snow tires, under certain circumstances. If the highway gets so bad that they will require all vehicles to use chains, they'll close the highway. You might want to print out that page and take it with you just in case. Be safe up there and have fun. Let us know how the new snow is. :smokem:
