since my mom's hosting my cousin's wedding shower at our house, me and my dad went to look at vw's and audi's for my mom. she has a 6 year old honda odyssey that's pretty beat, so she wants a wagon now.
long story short, my dad test drove an r32, then a passat 2.0t wagon. i've never seen him smile that much while driving. he said if we could afford it, he would have bought one on the spot (the r32). haha. then came the passat. he loved that as well, so i think they might get a lux edition with the 3.6 liter vr6 to combine comfort and power.
now my bro in law is coming over and we're all going to k1 speed to escape the estrogen overload at the house.

By all reports, the Jetta Sportwagon TDI will be available in August or September. Not a Passat wagon, not an R32 -- but up to twice as many miles per gallon. Lots of torque. And chippable, eventually.

I love the Passat Wagon
Jetta sportwagon TDI is nice, but if gas mileage isnt biggest concern, id sport the passat wagon for sure

totally. we sat in a sportwagen and it was just too tight in back. my folks definitely prefer comfort over mileage. it's looking like the vr6 with fwd is going to win out.

My dad just picked up a Lux wagon--had to fly up to Seattle to get the one he wanted since they're doing away with them in 09 and there isn't much of an 08 selection left. It's pretty sweet.

they're discontinuing them? commonwealth vw in santa ana said if we ordered a new one it would be the 09 model since the 08's are done being manufactured.

why? because of all the engine failures? if so, that problem has been fixed for at least a year now.

haha true. she's definitely one for looks rather than performance though. if they ended up getting the 2.0T it would be simply for financial reasons.

Half the dealers we went to didn't have a clue one way or the other about 09 models, but if you check out the B6 Passat forum on Vortex there's a post with the 09 specs and there will only be the Komfort trim level. I assume to make way for the CC, although that doesn't replace the wagon.

hmm.. i wonder why vw brings something like the cc over here when we didn't even get manual R32s.
