Yup, saw that. I try not to visit it because it makes me want to buy stuff for it. I want to at least get a few payments in before I start buying stuff...

Yea, that is a struggle for us too- we wanted the hatch tent too- but decided to just get regular tents...if it was just hubby and I, we'd have done it. We can't wait to get racks and lights...that type of stuff. :)

Thanks, we realllly enjoyed it and cannot wait to go back- we hiked around and found another site the that we want to try out for next time...we are also looking for some campsites that are closer- that was a 3 (beautiful) hour drive.

My grandparents were taking their eight kids there since 50-60s and it became the family place to go- they all kept going with family and friends over the years, then when the grandkids arrived, they took all of us too.
My dad died days after I was born, some of my uncles were at Cachuma at the time, and my other uncles had to drive all the way there to tell them/bring them back because of it...it's a strong family history oriented place for us- which is why I just had to go there again...and share it with my family (should have done it sooner). When my grandparents stopped going, my mom took me and would tell of all the stories there...

...the last time I went there was about 15 years ago, during a drought and the water was nearly gone. It was nice to see the water has returned to normal levels.

I didn't feel crowded, I am guessing there were alot of people there, but definitely wasn't full...I am guessing too, that in the coming Summer months, it will get more crowded.

From the looks of that photo, it's more like a vestibule than a tent. I see.

Yea, it's a decent amount of gear for camping- but I most of it is food or food prep stuff...I also have first aid kits for both dogs and humans...the dog stuff takes up alot of room, too. Once it's all in it's place, it's not that bad....we are hike camping- we're car camping. :)
