I used to use the Norton Suite but I don't know I think it used up lotsa resources and I managed to get infected various times with it... so after the most recent reformat I switched over to Kaspersky Antivirus, and besides also liking to take up resources it seems to be working very well, minus some false positives here and there.

I also installed this program called Trojan Remover, and it works really well imo to do exactly what the title infers. and a good program I started using to clean a messy registry is RegCure. I haven't had to use the above 2 on my pc after the reformat, however Trojan Remover does an autoscan @ startup. But if your PC is infected, a combination of the 3 above programs will almost certainly get you back up and running.

My cousin brought his PC to me to get rid of a few trojans that were throwing up uncontrollable popups, and that's how I found out about all the above software (while researching for the best remedies) ~ the combo brought his PC to like new operating efficiency without having to reformat.

Also, i am just using the Windows firewall from Sp3...

It would be nice to see what everyone is using... and thoughts... reasons?

I have a doc that my IT guy did to help remove all sorts of stuff. It's pretty well done, PM me if you'd like it.

ESET NOD32... You guys recommended it to me a while back, been using it since... I just snatch a "free" user name and pass that expires ever 24hrs, but it's enough to get an update in... I mean, I'll update it like once a month.

Norton sucks....

I use Sophos. It free from UCSD and updates every 8hrs from the server on campus. Drawback is you have to be a student or facility.

You meant Faculty right?? Glad to see UCSD is keeping with the traditions of "screw improper grammar, that's what spell check is for!" j/k :D
