So today I went in for a simple alignment.
And went out looking at like $800 in repairs.
Told me both my motor mounts are completely shot, my upper ball joints are done as well, my left front shock is leaking (on a coilover system btw), and my left inner CV boot is done as well.
AND.. that alignment I went in for? The ONLY thing they did for $130 was adjust the left front toe from -.03* to .17*. I'll be calling them tomorrow.
GODDAMN.

becareful with that man...i bottomed out on a pot hole once and i felt it pull to the side..then like 45 mins later on a fwy transition...(the one from the 15s to the 10w) my front tire blew out in front me and kept rolling in front me...and i was stuck on a small patch of cement inbetween rushing traffic...one thing i learned...suspension and alignment, should never be overlooked
$130 to check an alignment isn't bad, you have to pay to have it checked, the adjustments are free, if it can't be adjusted into spec, something is bent, we charge $249 for an alignment.
Not to mention an $800 estimate for repairs on a 10 year old Audi isn't bad. Cheaper then a new one, but this type of stuff comes with age so get use to it, if one shock is leaking, I would do both, one new and one old will cause handling issues. Then the rear are old and the front are new, that will throw off handling, but not NEARLY as bad as it does side to side.

Nope. FK coils have no warranty.
But the upside is.. I bought them new for 400 shipped to my door, so I'm not feeling THAT bent out of shape about them.

I feel for ya but those are common repairs on the B5, besides the coilover.

AND TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY!!!
I got a fucking bolt in my tire today and they couldn't repair it.
But Discount Tire is the absolute shit and replaced it for 15 bucks (which was only for a lifetime tire warranty) so I'm quite happy. The other repairs suck but they'll be done soon.

you could probably do all that yourself if you have the time, and with the money you saved buy a new set of coils.
$249 for an alignment? That includes a happy ending right?

doubtful - bmw dealer prices.
but mike is right - it could be ALOT worse on an older audi

all luxury cars are like that
there's plenty of maintenance items to replace, but we do what we can
