Do you mean the XSI?? If so, my friend just got one and it's pretty nice. I haven't messed around with the D40 really, but I do own a Nikon D80 and love it. I have no info on either really haha. Sorry. :)

I have been looking between the 40D and XSi as well. It is a really tough choice as the XSi has been getting great reviews from what I have read. Look forward to seeing what you decide on.

I'm leaning towards the XSi based mostly on price and megapixels

so far the only advantage I see on the 40D is the faster shutter, but I don't think I need it that bad... I think I would rather have 2 extra megapixels and 3 shots per second less seems like a good trade-off

If I am not mistaken, all Canon lenses would fit the XSi

could I get a mod to change the title of the thread so I can feel like less of an idiot please?

Thanks :)

Well I really like how the 40D felt in my hands compared to the XSi but really the XSi does most everything the 40D for a better price. Also lighter as well

click on the edit button in your first post then hit the go advanced buttonWhile that changes the title, it does not change the actual thread. You have to go into "edit thread" as a moderator to do that. I know that because I'm an admin on another forum that uses the same software ;)

OK

XSi
Pros:
Light weight
cheaper
more MP

Cons:
slower shutter speed

40D
Pros:
a few more features
faster shutter speed

cons:
heavier
more costly
only 10.1MP as opposed to 12

...leaning towards XSi

hmmm... when I post the no MKVI Golf thread (http://socaleuro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33668) it let me change GTI to Golf in the title and thread. :headspin:

Maybe it was a time between post and edit thing. Like when you edit within a set time it doesn't show that the post was edited at the bottom of it.

Like these past two lines. =)

IMO, a heavier camera makes it easier to take shots. It's easier to keep a heavier camera stable as opposed to a lighter one. Please keep in mind that this is just my opinion. I'm a newbie and this is just my opinion based off what little experience I have.

Also, megapixel values are meaningless. Anything over 8mp is fine, you're going to end up resizing them because they're monstrously large. 10.2mp will generate shots @ 3888x2592 pixels.

New development:

XSi will not take the over 11gigs worth of CF cards I already have. Big problem because I don't feel like buying that much memory on SD cards

Now looking at Olympus E-3 since I already have Zuiko lenses.
