I have the 850sw........love it.
U just take it home....and rinse it under the faucet gently. then I also set it in a bowl of clean water and turn it on and off multiple times to make sure you get the shutter cover mechanism clean.
I feel completely confident to leave it in my pocket and jump right in the swimming pool. I will often take it out of the case, fiddle with it, and toss it into the pool right in front of people just for their facial expressions.

Olympus SWs are good for the feature set. Don't expect it to give you IQ beyond what a small sensor and ruggedized body (limiting lens ability to folding zoom type) can do and you'll be happy enough.
It will survive sand and water without issue. Just make sure that if you do take it to the beach that you rinse it off under a tap to get rid of the saltwater and any sand or other residue from the body as they, particularly the saltwater, can degrade the seals prematurely. Just read the care section of the manual, follow it, and it'll live a long, long time.
