I'm finally getting a point and shoot. I've only had my 30d for years now. But for alot of stuff I can't take my camera with me (concerts, clubs, etc.) But I don't want some shitty P&S with no manual functions and horrible white balance. I'm gonna look at Dpreview like I always do but is there anything you guys suggest? Should I get something off Ebay or Craigslist to get more bang for my buck? Thanks fellas!

I really enjoyed my Sony, and the wife's P&S Canon Power Shot SD 700 is pretty great. Manual functions and easy to manipulate. I'm no expert, but we like them.

I got the Sony b/c I could use the rechargables it came with or regular AA batterys.

Mess around with this. (http://www.myproductadvisor.com/mpa/camera/inputSummary.do?referrer=ir)

Based on how you describe your needs, it gave me as top picks the Canon A590IS or A720IS, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ8, FS5 and FS3.

I like Lumixes. The current generation lets you pick aspect ratios (4:3, 3:2, 16:9). I also prefer the JPEGs out of the camera from them over Canons point and shoots, but this is very subjective.

When I was looking to replace my broken Nikon 2200 (a little camera I really enjoyed using and was $150 back in 2004), my priority was a wide angle lens as it was to be a pocket camera for parties and other events in cramped areas. That and $200. I ended up getting the Kodak V705 Dual Lens (http://linusenriquez.smugmug.com/gallery/3498998_NwLG9) with a 23mm EFL prime and an okay 36-118mm EFL zoom. I hardly ever use the zoom and keep it on the prime. It has virtually ZERO control (I can set ISO from 50-1000, but past 200 is rubbish.. oh, and +/- 2 EV in 1/3 steps, I think) but has an extensive SCENE MODE list that pretty much gives me all I need considering its purpose. It also comes with a fun in-camera panorama stitcher, saving me the PP. It's also nice and tiny, and finding a refurb for $200 was a coup last winter, considering it's a discontinued model that still sells for over $300 online.

That site... Makes me want a new Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 now... But I don't want to pay $400... damn.
