and the prisons will become less crowded... someone was thinking about this, but unfortunately there are still to many old people that remember the reefer madness videos that will vote this thing down.
this will be an interesting one to follow.

it will be really interesting to see society deal with this change if it goes through. i mean, when prohibition was around, most americans were pissed. people wanted their booze. but i think the prohibition of weed is something a much smaller amount of americans care as much about. there was never any "alcohol madness" film to scare people off with stereotypes and ridiculous overexaggerations of alcohol use.
weed, on the other hand, has fought many demons throughout its history in our country. it isn't as much a conservative v. liberal issue as it is a battle between generations. while younger people may tend to be more liberal, the large majority of older people (who unfortunately make up the large majority of all voters) will turn their noses up at this initiative regardless of their political ideologies.
but if it does pass, i think it will receive the same heat as the legalization of gay marriage did/is. it will simply be something for those against it to bitch about until something else comes along. like ca high speed rail haha

the REALLY interesting part will be if they do legalize then i want to see the first lawsuit for someone getting fired from a job for smoking it :tup2: that's when the real ISH-storm will happen

It depends on the job and the employment agreement you sign. If the job says that they don't allow certain controlled substances, legal or not, you can still be fired. Many places of substance abuse clauses, vice, illegal drug clauses. Any legal substance can be abused if you catch my drift.
Oh yes, prison INDUSTRY, has turned inmates into commodities. This means there will be very large financial backers, lobbying to keep these border-line offenses punitive. They need inmates to have cheap labor on US soil. Add the fact that OIl is going up up UP, and shipping is becoming too costly, paying for cheap labor outside of the US for products needed here is not as appealing as having inmates in US private prisons do the work right next door to where they need the product.

the article says that the initiative needs some many signitures before it can end up on the november ballot so is this something that we sign for? and if so where?

fucking drug addicts.
haha too bad marijuana isnt a drug.
would sunflowers or lettuce be a drug?? all those take is a few seeds some watering, sunlight and time.....
tylenol on the other hand...is like what made in a labratory with some other goodies?
People don't take Tylenol to get high every day.
With your logic, shrooms aren't drugs either.
Opium should be legal too.

as would cocaine, heroin, etc.
it's fucking ridiculous and silly. NO FUCKING WAY would i want to amend a constitution to say that people are allowed to have weed. . . wtf kind of crap is that? constitutions aren't play-things that can/should be amended every time you wanna get high.
dumbasses.
(note: i do not agere with nor disagree with drug use. i've always taken the viewpoint of do what you want--just don't let/make it affect me. . . what i take offense to is dumbasses wanting to amend a constitution at every turn)

u kno weed wasnt always illegal jus like alcohol was illegal during the prohibition weed is illegal now and its 'prohibition' might finally come to an end as it should
besides did u read the article this is gonna free up jails and money spent on prosecuting tthe ppl associated with it not to mention generate revenue/jobs for the state
think about it i would say about 30% (maybe more) of the CA population already smokes it on a regular basis some more so then others

thats what im saying...
why not capitolize on it...especially if their gonna tax the hell out of it. thats just extra money the govt gets...
of course the downside to taht is it would stlil be cheaper for the local weedhead to get it somehwere else. which then gives the question who would spend the extra money at the store to buy it when they can get it from their neighbor. i would really love to go to one of their professional debates like in the senate over this. i think i would be really informative

i dunno i think if its legalized that ur local dealer would have to start pushing something harder bcuz the initiative also lets a business grow there own stash meaning that u should be able to get a variety of different kinds thats also more readily available think about u got to fill up ur car at the local shell and while ur there u pick up a 6-pack of beer an an 8th of the Purp all at the same place:tup2:
no more have to wait for ur guy to re-up or meet u somewhere
JETTAone420
07-12-2008, 01:19 AM
yea well see with that an 8th is like what 45-50 dependin on a good connect from a dealer....from the liquor store it would be 60$ plus heavy tax.... which gives home dealers the advantage..plus how they say professional home growers will get taxed or charged per plant.... well if u figure you got a crop and not all of them are females (the good smokeable plants) then your out that much money...
the pro to that tho! is you would come up on some pretty heavy rare strains of some bomb ass kush at the liquor store that your local dealer cant get. but see then the negative to that is how fresh would liquore store herb be?? is it gonna be like grovery stores where they change out the produce every few days....cuz if stores kept teh same buds around and it gets dried out that isnt good for sales....
jwill'sMK4
07-12-2008, 01:25 AM
yea it will most definitly need to be worked out over time but for the most part i'd rather go through a legit seller then the local dude just cuz its convienent now instead of finding a good dealer u just gotta find a good liquor store
could u imagine the glowing "fresh buds" sign in the window lol
JETTAone420

the problem with all the potheads and the druggies that want to legalize drugs is that they are dumb and don't think/see things through. ironic.
(generally speaking, of course).

:stupid::bs:
You sir are an idiot, cocaine is nothing like pot, it's processed. Some one wants to smoke some bud all they do is pull it of the plant, there is no cutting, processing, adding of additional crap, etc. Do some research before you fly of the handle with BS like that, especially when you are going to start calling other people dumb asses, which is two words not one, dumb ass. FYI I don't smoke pot, the Army would throw me in jail, even if this buds were made legal in California.
I like how the Federal over ride works on somethings and not others........
Mario, HUGE difference between a plant that grows out of the ground, Marijuana, Tobacco (which has been proven MUCH more harmful with the chemicals) and stuff that is made in a lab, garage, kitchen, like Meth, coke, LSD, Heroin, and to some degree, Ecstasy. Hell, alcohol is more of a danger and health hazard then getting stoned.
Medical Marijuana, CA says Yes, Feds laugh and start locking people up.
CA bans assault weapons, which are perfectly legal in other states! When are the feds going to start raiding gun stores to restock the shelves with stuff like AR15's in a military configuration and AK47's with 30 rounders?
Hopefully the DC. V. Heller decision will start undoing all these ridiculous gun laws.
It'll happen. Sure.
You know many vegens and gays will be protesting that.

Doubt that will ever happen. See the states are given the power to make laws that have more limitations than federal laws. For example it is a federal offense to have a radar scramler in your car, on the other hand in some states even so much as a radar detector is against the law. The states have the power to twist the balls of their citizens ass far as they want as long as it doesn't conflict with a federal law or constitutional right.
