after close scrutiny and a team of video analysts spending hours upon hours locked in a den with nothing but Bawls (http://www.bawls.com/guarana.html) to drink(that doesnt sound right)...I can say that it appears (not definitely...just appears)...that the whale lands on the front end of the kayak and sucks him down(that too doesnt sound right)...not square in the middle. any objections to my teams findings?

I think those are quite possibly THE most beautiful animals in the world (well, next to my dog :p ) - but i swear if that happened to me, i would never step into the water again.
I kayak in the bay - i'm hoping i'm pretty safe there  ;)

I believe you are actually strapped into a kayak, not just sitting in it. (not 100% sure though) And I dont think he would have survived that much weight if the whale actually landed on top of him...the kayak would have popped back up but I think it would have stayed upside down. He was one lucky sumbish for having that kind of bad luck... :D

There are many different types of kayaks. Most of them, you are NOT strapped into. Those are usually reserved for white water kayaking. (rapids)
It's not a strap, but a skirt that you slip around you like a sock that keeps water from entering the kayak.
My kayak, i sit inside of - it is built for calm water but looks the same as the ocean kayaks in the video. There are also 'Sit on Top' kayaks where your whole body would be exposed - someday, i will have one of those too. :D
Anyhow, it looks to me like the guy flipped himself over using his paddle as leverage. It's a difficult move - they are obviously not novices.
