May the Lord Jesus Christ bless the Laurie Family in this time of grief...and Harvest is a Christian fellowship in Riverside, CA. Jesus displays his strength in time of weakness and pain...so Chris is well taken care of...and will be missed.

Sounds like this jerk was speeding and, obviously, driving recklessly.
The import thing of concern to me would be, are the CalTrans workers OK? All the news is talking about is this Laurie guy and not the workers.
Yeah, sad this guy, whoever he is, died but he did so through his own actions. He's not a victim the CalTran workers are so my thoughts are with them and I hope they where unhurt, physically & emotionally, by the actions of this thoughtless and reckless driver.
I hope I don't sound cold, but if it where you or I the story would be about some jerk driving like a maniac crashing into CalTrans workers and if the workers where OK or not.
"Pictures from the accident scene showed that Laurie's car hit so hard that it smashed through the crash arresters and crumpled into the truck's back axle and wheels."
I mean come on!!! What an asshole to be driving that recklessly. He had to be going over 100 MPH to cause that kind of carnage.
Just because this guy was the son of some guy that started some stupid "Mega-Church" doesn't make him any less responsible. I don't believe in Jesus Christ, nor am I a Christian but if his mythology is true then I hope this Jesus guy is giving him a good spanking right now for being such a tool as to endanger the lives of others and leave his child fatherless and his wife a widow. The "Family Values" crowd strikes again!
What a Jerk!

But wait! There's more...
Court records show that between 2002 and 2007, Laurie was cited for more than a dozen vehicle code violations in Riverside and Orange counties, including two for driving alone in a carpool lane. He received seven speeding tickets, as well as citations for not wearing a seat belt, failing to register his vehicle and driving a motorcycle without a license.
Laurie was charged with possessing a controlled substance in 2001, but that conviction was dismissed after he successfully completed a court-ordered drug program, court records show.
Sounds like he had Spoil Brat Prick Syndrome and it was terminal.
Can someone tell me why he even had a drivers license? Can you say, Daddy's Got Some Pull.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the Caltrans truck was traveling about 15 mph in the car-pool lane and Laurie, driving alone in the same lane, was traveling at a "high rate of speed and unable to stop prior to colliding.''
My final thought...
I am tickled pink that he's dead. I now feel safer on the road. My Life and the Lives of my friends are safer without this tool behind the wheel.
Maybe this Jesus guy does exist and he reached down from OnHigh and smoted this little prick before he killed the innocent.

FROM NBC NEWS
Christopher Laurie, 33, had a driving history that included more than a dozen citations in Orange and Riverside counties since 2002, according to court records cited by the Press-Enterprise.
At about 9 a.m. Thursday in Corona, Laurie was driving alone at a high rate of speed in the eastbound carpool lane when he struck a Caltrans truck at the rear of a convoy of street-sweeping vehicles moving at about 15 mph, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The rear truck had a flashing arrow to warn drivers to go around, and had lowered its crash-arresting barrier, according to Caltrans. Pictures from the scene showed the Laurie's car hit so hard that it smashed through the crash arresters and crumpled into the truck's back axle and wheels.
Laurie was wearing a seat belt but he suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to the paper.
The in-depth investigation of the fatal crash may take two weeks or more, CHP Officer George Ford Jr. told the newspaper.

and from MYDESERT.COM
According to Corona Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Porter, Laurie apparently went into the carpool lane as Caltrans was in the process of closing it.
The driver of the truck was not injured in the collision, but the vehicle was heavily damaged.
____________
this was one of the only reports that didn't spin the story in favor of Laurie's tragedy.
Remember, he was speeding, driving alone in the carpool lane... very dangerous!!
Wow, its tragic when someone dies regardless, a father, son, friend is gone. However from the sounds of it, odds are he didn't help his situation. I read about this in the Register a few days ago. Whether ANY of the fore mentioned issues actually played a role in this accident, we won't know.
What the hell is Cal Trans doing sweeping the Carpool lane during rush hour anyway?

don't get me wrong Mike, it is a tragedy...
from the sounds of his driving record, this guy had plenty of warnings about his driving...
it's a shame it all went down like this.. but i do hate it when the media spins a story in favor of the victim, especially when it's a high profile public figure...
Its a toss up, having driven on that stretch of the 91 east in the morning, its almost impossible to see due to the sun being in your eyes, like I said, odds given he was driving like an ass. Well, I'm sure either way, he is "in a better place" with his god now as his fellow Christians would see it. Thats the mystery of death, no one has lived to explain the outcome.

You really to exert your frustration some other way besides being happy that someone is dead, or in your own words "TICKLED PINK" that he is dead.

dude, BexSoCal... you are seriously the rudest most innaproprite person i've EVER come across on these forums. A man is dead and it brings you pleasure? Do you even realize how bad you sound saying those things? Regardless of how he was driving he was a man of great importance in so many lives, especially to those of his wife and daughters born and unborn. Your disgusting man.

I've got plenty of family being PR, in NYC and most of it's burroughs. We don't wish anyone dead. I think it's a personal thing with this one, Mike.
I would never wish someone dead, no matter how much I don't like them, however, if they did die, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it either.
That is only reserved for a few people at the moment though..................

I didn't wish anyone dead.
I called him a spoiled, selfish, prick.
This self-centered moron routinely drove in a reckless manner endangering the lives of others, like you and me, and he did so even though he is a husband and a father and has a pregnant wife.
I NEVER wished anyone dead. Perhaps you need to re-read my post or take an English Reading Comprehension course. However, I wanted to drive the point home that just because he is related to some Church guy doesn't mean he gets a pass for his selfish, self-centered, unChristianlike behavior that lead to his not surprising demise.
I ride a motorcycle everyday and everyday a douche bag like Chris Laurie endangers my life and your life. I'm glad I have one less prick to worry about on the road now.

BexSocal...last time i checked my morality chart...i didnt see your name written at the top of any list...Im a Christian who follows the laws of the land to the best of my ability and just because he was the son of a "stupid mega church preacher" (harvest is my place of worship and Pastor Greg is a Great disciple) doesn't make him any different then the "pricks" you see speeding on California freeways every single day. Tragic accidents happen daily to a lot of people and when you get on this forum and voice your opinion, try sounding a little less ignorant and a little more humble. His mythology...lol...its His faith...and you shouldn't be commenting on one's faith if you have no clue about what your talking about. Now I'm on a soap box, just remember this post, and that people like me and (unperfect, yet forgiven) Chris Laurie pray for you everyday. Be blessed and Stay informed or Shut-it!!!!
