View Full Version : Russia to cut all military ties with NATO

This is nothin but bad news. I used to work for NATO at S.H.A.P.E in Mons Belgium up until 2003. The Russians although on base and on the main buildings inner fenceline, were not allowed into the main building themselves. Located in a small two story building behind it, they were pretty much looked at like the odd kid.... kinda like Shawn but nobody beat up on Russia and stole their lunch money. If you guys don' think this is a FKN HUUUUGE step backwards, like back to 1983 then your horribly mistaken. THIS IS BAD BAD...not just bad.

yeah, Maybe I should invest in that fallout shelter after all. This is really frightening having a major world superpower with nuclear weapons giving its finger to the rest of the peaceful world. This may be a cry for attention, but for what? They really don't need anything, there economy is booming. Cold War II?
I bet they will cite the NATO missile shield in Poland for this move. I have faith we have the power, money and technology to bankrupt them again in an arms race, but we are still bound to treaties they will choose to defy.

The missile treaty is exactly the reason why. Oh btw...we just sent 3 warships to the Black Sea to "ASSIST" in humanitarian aid. GB sent a couple too.

yay.... see i know their was a reason why were gettin deployed to kosovo in december.... shits gettin ready to go down and were the first wave haha
Question is, are the Russians planning on using any of those nukes. I don't think so since they would pretty much realize it would be end game for all sides including them. We will pull out of the middle east, and head to eastern europe.

although this is a big deal in world politics, i don't think it's anything to worry about. at least not yet.
russia's been behind for nearly its entire existence. it's no surprise that they are still in the same spot. they were pissed that their neighbors and former soviet territories georgia and azerbaijan were trying to get their feet in the UN's door, so they finally pitched a fit about it, didn't get the response they were looking for, and now they're doing what they think is best. again. but i won't hold my breath.
as for the threat of nuclear anything... i'm 99.9% sure we'll see more destruction from the next big earthquake or wildfire season. everyone knows that everyone will annihilate everyone else. mutually assured destruction isn't tempting enough to warrant that kind of offensive from ANY country.

Great post, it will be interesting to see what transpires in the coming months. I wouldn't venture on use of ICBM's, but smaller weapons locally is another issue.

It makes it easier to defeat the Soviets again since Putin is a former KGB officer, he only knows one way of life and thats one of failure.
I dont think its BAD BAD BAD. I think the world sees them as the threat they really are. Look at what the UN said? Not that theyre worth a shit. But still the UN has a position of Not business as usual with the Soviets. Er, I mean Russians.
Our deal with Poland is SWEET!!
And as far as the Nuclear threat... Russia hasnt had the funds to maintain a nuclear fleet. So think on that too.

After much thought... I see somebody trying to enter a pissing contest, but not sure there is anything that would actually instigate armed conflict.
Though I do know there has been more activity in Poland than just "Ol' Condi Rice signing papers...

True dat. All I see is an old Soviet/Russian trying to puff up his chest. What I dont understand yet is whats his objective? The world already ignores them as a world power. So whats he trying to get??

Oh yeah, they have been trying to sell them for a long time now but none of the south american drug runners wants em. Theyve been buying them other small subs that are NEW. LOL!!
I know their military abilities are extremely limited. Hell, why did they go into Georgia with T72's?? Thats a RIOT!!!
They would go to war with whatever hardware Khruschev himself signed off on the engineering plans that they had laying around that they could clean the cosmoline out of. They are running all antiques. My biggest fear, is they try to make some display of power, and end up covering eastern europe in layer of radioactive fallout, if they do, hopefully it floats over the Kremlin. I have as much faith in Russian technology as I do the Democrats ability to cut spending.

Any info in regards of what our military plans are should be kept hush. If you're deploying where ever for whatever.... keep quiet. You're in breach of OPSEC. Ya'll think it may be unclassified info now, but there is just some shit you don't talk about in the WORLD WIDE WEB.

08-21-2008, 07:04 AM
trust me, i know what OPSEC is, and i know what im saying and not saying. I dont need to be lectured about it, thanks. Bad enough i have to deal with the crap out here, id rather not get it from on here to. so dont worry about us, anything said here can be found on the unit site, which is out there for the world to see, so back to russia, wonder how cold it gets over there... lol, i hear it gets down to like 26deg here where im at..... thats gunna suck lol

That's exactly what they want you to think Shawn. Russia has enough boom factor to wipe out our country and the next. With not much to lose, your right there.
Remember, although Russia was always lookin for a fight, it didn't act first. It was Georgia going into S.O. to it's north that set Russia off.

Currenty theyre negotiating a cease fire. Meanwhile, the US is flying in humanitarian support while were talking to Goergia about improving their military. (I dont see giving more than 5 M1's cant handle neccessary.)
The sea port is currently blockaded as well. Alot of the country is under Russian control. The main railway line was mysteriously cut this last weekend to the capitol.
Quiet mostly. Whats funny is I got the info from the BBC.

Ummm... Ruski's confisacted a shipment oF HMVV's going to U.S. via sea.
The U.S. Naval ship is just going through the Turkish straights as I type, and not there yet. Air Force stuff, I don't know. Rick?

If they are so behind technologically speaking, then why to do we need to use their space shuttle for missions to the international space station [and retire ours]?
The scary thing is how much of OUR technology we shared with Russia while we were "friends" - especially in the space sector. Also, because of our slowing economy, a lot of Russian PhD scientists and engineers that came over here for work are taking what they learned from HERE back THERE.
In regards to "classified" and "unclassified" - if you put enough "unclassifed" together you can correlate some more succinct "classified" information from those pieces. It's just about dispersment of information - albiet that it's a tremendous effort - you can put the puzzle back together. Now whether a certain intelligence agency can do it by the time it's "too late" is another question :D

They have a space shuttle?? It was my understanding that their (historical pattern of coppying out designs) space shuttle program (they made one that never flew a manned mission) "Buran" was scrapped shortly after the fall of the Soviet Union in 93' and its currently on display in a museum.
