The 'EDIT' button doesn't seem to be showing up next to the 'QUOTE', 'MULTI-QUOTE' and 'QUICK REPLY' buttons in the bottom right corner of my posts like it used to ...
Anyone know how to re-enable this / get this working so I can edit my posts again?
Note: I've tried clearing all my cookies and history etc., and logging in again, but to no avail.

That's interesting ... the 'EDIT' button does show up for me in the bottom right corner of the previous and this post ... is it only possible to edit posts within a certain time limit, or during the same web session or something ?

I believe the timeout is an hour.

Yeah, that seems correct, a post I made just over an hour ago now no longer has the 'EDIT' button next to it either ...
What is the point behind this? This is pretty restrictive ... For example, if I make a post in the Classifieds section, and then want to add pictures, add details, amend condition details to be more accurate etc. I now can't do that in the OP!
Also, for items already sold, it's nice to be able to modify the OP details to say SOLD, and delete contact info, so I don't keep getting people trying to contact me for an item that's already SOLD. Other forums even allow you to modify the OP title, so I'm not sure why this needs to be so restrictive?

Maybe it was a default with the forum update. I think the timeout is 30 minutes right now... iirc before it used to be null
I say leave it how it is, nothing better then when some asshat makes some foot in the mouth comment, gets called out and deletes it..............

It used to be a lot stricter(and personally, I think it should be, but that's another matter).
Back In The Day(tm), the board used to erupt into silly flamewars every so often. One of the key tactics was to say something incredibly offensive, get a few folks riled up, and then change key parts of the original post.
Not being able to edit your posts also seems to make people think a little before hitting enter, because if you say something offensive or just plain stupid, you can't take it back. Just like in real life.
No, you can't change your original post in a classifieds thread, but so what? Reply to your own thread, it's not like we charge per post. heh.
