It seems to me that the Volvo/SAAB board is really kind of slow these days. Is this normal or are there really just that few of us on here that we don't have much to say?????:(

Hey Steve,

Do you drive a Green 9-3 SE? I think I saw you leaving the GTG with a convertible 9-3. I got there kinda late and didn't get to meet any of the SAAB guys. I did park next to a nicely modded black Viggen. I have a stock black 9-5. I don't think there are too many of us SAAB guys. Do you ever check out SAABNET? They're a good resource.

That was me!!! I was right behind Adrian in the Black Vert. I keep hearing about the Viggen but I never saw it!! Damn!!! When I left there was still the 9-2X there and Tim and his 9-5 Base up on the roof. I use Saabnet, Sabblink.net, SC and TSN as well as SoCal Euro to try and find local SAAB freaks!! There are more of us than you think out here in the OC/LA area. Where are you from in the area????? I am from the Cypress/LaPalma area of Orange County and work in Costa Mesa by the MAll.

Sorry I didnt get a chance to meet you but maybe we can all get together again!!

Who's Black Viggen was there????????????????????????????

It was pretty stealth. I should have taken a picture of it. It was a black two door, tinted all around, look like it had 18's or 19's black rims, remus exhaust. Very stealth. I wonder if he rsvp'd. He should be on the list. He or she...

I live in Fullerton. I've seen a few 9-5 Aero wagons and new 9-3 SS around. SAAB's are a rarity in this land of AUDI's, Bimmers, and Benzos. But, then again, that's one of the reasons why I bought a SAAB.

Hope to see you at one of the GTG's.

I'm really impressed how Ford's using Volvo and implimenting their platforms into Ford and Mazda models, rather than the other way around. For instance like the Mazda 3 and euro Focus share the same platform as the S40. S80 & Ford 500.

The S60R & V70R look great and their specs look really good too. 300hp! How does it handle though... I wonder how the 9-5 Aero stacks up against it.

The 9-5 Aero is still slightly under powered but can hold its own against it in most cases. The British car show called "Fith Gear" rated the 9-5 Aero like they were driving a Jet plane with acceleration that most cars can only dream of. The beauty of the SAAB is all the torque and power that gets put down to the ground. Thats why SAAB's are so competitive (from rolling road starts) with cars that have alot more horsepower.

God I love my SAAB's!!!!:smokem:

Ok I am still convinced that the Volvo/SAAB forum is REALLLLLLLLLY slow despit my efforts to overpost into it and get people posting. Must be due to the fact that all the Volvo/Saab folk are out driving there cars rather than sitting on the internet I suppose!!!:smokem:

Ok so it is pretty pathetic when you look in the Volvo/Saab forum (if you own one of these cars) and see your name on every post in the forum!! I am going to give up on getting people to be active here and go stick to the SAAB forums on other sites!! :( Not that anyone would even read this or care since I seem to be the only poster on a regular basis in this forum!

Well, complaining about it here isn't gonna do a lot of good.

What you need to do is become the Volvo/SAAB (V/S) moderator. That'll give the forum some legitimacy. Then go out and find V/S content to bring to this forum and post. That way when other V/S owners come to check stuff out there's cool things for them to see. And finally, going to events and other sites to promote is pretty important as well.

If you promote it they will come.

That is a good set of ideas you got there. I actually was getting ready to PM Bugzy about SoCalEuro Cards of flyers to pass out when I see the Volvo or SAAB out there to try and drum up the membership. AS for Events I actually plan on hitting atleast 6 shows this year with my car and possibly more if time and money permit. Now as for becoming the Moderator of this Forum how would one go about doing that? Contact Bugzy perhaps??

So those of you with relatively new Saabs, how reliable have they been? I am giving some serious consideration to getting either a 92-X or a 9-3 Aero, but my friends are divided on their reliability...it's either all good or just plain bad.

Yeah I know that the 92-X is a Subaru in disguise and I think that would be reliable. I'm worried abou the 9-3.

I'll make my decision when I see if the rebates for Feb bump back up to where they were in December.

TIA.

I have a 2000 9-3 SE Aero and it is great!!! 205HP stock but with the ECU tune I am doing right now it will be at a conservative 280HP/340+lb's torque. The 9-3 is a very reliable car and the power plant has been around for almost 23 years (from its earliest form). THe T8 ECU in the new 9-3 is not as easily tuned as the 9-2x Aero since its a Subaru. IF you go with a SAAB I would go with a 2000-2002 9-3SE or a 9-2x Aero if you are going for a new one. Wih any car you only usually hear the bad news only and hardly ever the good news. There are the same things to look out for if you drive VW, Audi, BMW etc..... they all have their brand specific issues to watch for. I will try to post up some of the more common ones in this forum so people can get a real idea of what can be done to them and what to watch out for. The SAAB motor is good for alot of miles I have an 86 with 245K on it and it still smokes WRX's to this day. THe newer models have been the donor powerplant for the Cavalier, Sunfire, Cobalt, ION Redline and the Opel Vectra and Vauxhaul in Europe. GM has based their entire forced induction line on the Saturn turbo control systems and motors.

9-3 Viggen ---- 230HP stock rocket but Good for 350HP with proper tuning --suffers from weaker pistons. ECU upgrades can be expensive but see me and I can get you a deal.

9-3 SE (2000-2002) -- 205HP base but very tuneable with the right mods to 330HP or so on stock turbo. ECU upgrades can be expensive but see me and I can get you a deal.

9-3SS (Aero) 2003 - Present -- 220HP stock has the T8 control system which is not tuneable at this point.

9-2x Aero ----- 220 HP Subaru WRX motor AWD ....... ECU tunes fairly inexpensive, all WRX mods bolt right on for the most part, nicer interior than the WRX more refinement I suppose. But it does suffer from the weak WRX gearbox so much above 350HP or so and you will fry your tranny every time you hard launch (not really but you could do it alot). Also stock turbo is the same as the WRX and is not far from its limits from the factory.

9-5 AERO (1999- 2002)---- 225HP luxury rocket!!! T7 engine management system and capable of 350HP in its sleep with the right checkbook (1500 or so).
