It is down for now but once the economy recovers it will go right back up. On a side note I did see regular for $2.85 in poway yesterday which is the lowest I have seen in a long time.

but it's costco gas... i have a client who had to replace fuel injectors and a filter from 3 months of straight costco gas usage

I don't think Costco gas is bad. I have used it on occasion in several cars and never really had a problem.

There was a thread...a while ago, probably before you joined, about Costco gas.
The upshot is that Costco gas is no different than any other gas in California, since it all comes from the same distribution centers and the same refineries.
/offtopic.
Back on topic
While cheaper oil is probably a good thing for the world economy, I'd really like to see gas stay expensive.
I don't know what it's like down there, but higher gas prices up here have had a significant positive impact on people's lifestyles.
More people are shopping locally, sourcing locally, and (at the risk of sounding like a hippie) thinking locally.
I'd hate to see this movement towards a more sustainable(hippie words again) die before it has a chance to really take hold.

Eventhough gas pricers have come back down I think habits are hard to break for Americans. It seems that people are still looking for fuel efficient cars and trying to reduce gas consumption. Maybe that is also due to the economy tanking but I don't think people are going to be jumping back into SUV's just yet.

Remarkably steadied throughout the 90s, and except a brief moment of sobriety in January 2002 has gone up up up.
I'm hoping it'll hit $10/gal by 2010, if only to engineer the inevitable shift from a fossil fuel to whatever happens next.

I've tested Costco gas, It has one of the lowest Alcohol contents I've ever seen. I'm not sure about its cleaning agents or make up, but it has a low alcohol content which can cause rough running and misfires.
Joel is right, soon as the economy picks up, so will the price of gas. Enjoy it while it lasts for the next year or so, but don't run out and buy a gas guzzler just yet.

I'd like to see it be a bit more gradual than that.

Just rip the band-aid off, Alan. Rip it.
great, lets all develop alternative energy sources. That way, demand for gas plummets, whatever else we will be using, electric, hydrogen, steam whatever will go up, gas prices will tank, and I can have all the cheap gas in the world for my toy cars!

i would buy a cheap economey car to drive to work but when you go and look for them the prices are so high for them that i dont see it being that practical to buy a $15k car that get 35mpg and have a monthly payment when my passat is getting 29mpg and its paid for. i do admit that since gas has been going down i have been driving my truck more. i bought my truck last year in september brand new before the prices went way up and since they did go up it just sits and the truck just turned 7,000 miles so that shows how much i drive it since the gas went up. and now since it is going down i can afford to drive it and now i can start thinking of family camping trips in it and goin up north to see my family. i dont mind if gas stays around the 2.40-2.50 a gal price but going over 3 is crazy if it did hit the 10 mark the economy will fall even more because of it.

I was over in Tempe over the weekend for a race and 87 was $2.64/gal. But also read that OPEC is cutting production by 1.25million barrels a day to stop their losses.
The best part of this is Alan Greenspan, who was considered God of the economy, is now getting grilled on Capitol Hill. "I really didn't think this could happan..." Alan, you propped up the economy for 10yrs....sooner or later it had to fall, its called the economic cycle.

And?
AND alot of people will be going even more into debt and loosing their jobs over it. i have been seeing alot of little company's go under because they can afford the prices of alot of things. i mean look at the grocery store's. they are raising there prices because of the fuel price and its making it harder for people to live of a basic income. its getting so bad that you have to have excellen credit to get anything now. not all people can afford stuff because of it. if it keeps going alot of people that make minimum wage are going to be hurting unless the govenor give's us a cost of living increase which he wont do.
