Must be some sort of "Jetta envy" or something this week alone i have had no less than three young guys in various models of Kia go out of thier way to cut me off, trying to run me out of a merge lane on the right shoulder on a ramp(didnt work of course ) and just generally agressive in your face screw you over driving. Now keep in mind i drive a semi for a living so i am used to peoples lame driving habits but its like these guys are taking it out on me because they bought a soul-less Korean bucket. Glad i didnt get lured into thinking that i needed a ten year warranty on an entry level compact i'll take my four year old car over one any day. Just an observation.... some one have some dumbass in a Kia repellent?

Maybe they confuse the 10 year warranty with some sort of safer construction. Or maybe they're just idiots and you're seeing Darwin's theory in action.

Probably the latter.

maybe you are both morons, VW used to have a 10year/100,000 mile warranty when thier cars were still worth a damn

Dont be a J/O and i wont make assumptions about what i think you are. As for the cars i am being a bit sarcastic about the Kia more to the point i am curious about the corelation between young idiot drivers, Korean cars and what that has to do with their aggressive driving habits(total tongue in cheek).
I still believe VW makes a quality product or i wouldn't have bought one in spite of having some issues recently with my car. Why do you own one if you think they are a P.O.S.?

There's a late-model Kia Spectra (the hidden-hatch sedan model) here with a large exhaust and a plate that reads 'ROL4LIF' :D
I honestely don't think I could see myself driving a Korean car, but if it came down to it, some Tiburons aren't too bad ... and the new Kia Spectra 5 (the one that looks kinda like the Suzuki Aero) looks pretty damn good.
Then again, its more about drive quality than everything ... I used to be a Honda nut, but I bought my Golf after driving an Integra hatch, despite the Integra being way faster, as the Golf's steering felt so much better. I don't need power, but I hate light steering!

My friend drives a 1999 Kia as his daily, he has a nice-enough weekend car on the side. This 1999 Kia has less than 100,000 miles, and the things going wrong are appauling. There are so many trim pieces that have just fallen off, like the whole glove compartment.
But you get what you pay for, and a 1999 car bought in 2004 for 1,500 sells for 1,500 for a reason.

They are probably rude to you out of envy. So smile when they get pissed off at you, because they wish they were in your car. This is how I see it.

Its true there is a big difference in steering my new JettaIV vs Mk II Scirocco sans power steering. Paralel parking the Scirocco w/o power steering and 195 50 15's was a mild work out in comparison to the Jetta. For the last 6 years i have owned BMW's and when it was time to sell the car and buy something more practical i had a hard time considering a japanese import for my daily use. My wife has a Toyota Matrix and while its very reliable the fit and finish is terrible and though rated at 160 some odd H.P. it feels gutless to me in comparison to my much heavier car with only marginal H.P. difference. I have owned German cars my entire driving career dont know if i would be happy with any thing else.

i stopped drinking along time ago, so it was a comment made out of total sobriety, and the fact that i own the model of VW that still holds it's head high in the quality department.

i can tell u what it is... its becuase they are proud to own their first new car, they just traded in the pice of shit 85 nissans or 79 toyota, and got to buy their baby-mamma's a new car...
i see so menu kia race by me on the 15 freeway.. little do they understand that kia's have the worst crash test rates.. so once they lose it going fast in a kia, they can kiss their ass good by.. i wont even given them the time of day becuse i dont need them dieing becuase their engine expolded tring to brake the 90mph marks...
PEOPLE KIAS ARNT RACE CARS!!

I would agree that to some extent it seems over engineered and over computerized however the build quality seems good the car runs well and is well appointed for a car of its type. I also grant that while it is no longer made in Germany i guess the only part that still is is the trans so we'll see if i still feel the same way in a couple of years. And yes there is plenty of young idiots in all types unfortunately i get to see too many of them wrapped around light standards and K-rails on the freeway everyday inmy usual 330 plus mile route i drive.

interesting how it was people in a kia. i used to drive a kia sportage, btw it sux dick... but for some reason, i used to do alot of stupid things in that car. maybe 'cause i was younger and just learned to drive, but i just did some wack ass stuff in it.
i'm sure those kids were like me, but i wasn't that bad

Maybe they're mad that mom and dad didn't buy them their 2000 honda civic SI with underglow kit and they can't impress their friends by doing some "sick" fast and the furious driving...
