I've always liked Saabs, cool little hatchbacks with surprisingly quick engines.
On my first drive up the mountain here in Flag, I tried chasing some random kid in a 1986 9000 turbo (running stiffer ~1990 springs). I was going slow since I'd never done the drive, let alone at night, but his car would have killed me anyway! :smokem:
Don't think I've ever seen a Saab older than the early-1980s 900 2-doors though, except in pictures.
My Aunt bought a new white 9^3 last year, saw it over Xmas, that thing is hot
Although I think its a sedan and not a hatch
Has the 2.0L turbo though, much better than her old white early 90's Volvo 850 or whatever she had. Not sure if GM has helped or hurt though, I usually hate GM.
I saw a 9^5 aero sedan a year or two back, even though I can't stand sedans it looked pretty sweet too. At the SD Auto Show ~8 years ago, I remember my favorite thing about any Saab was the awesome cupholder in the 9^5 wagon, that folded out from the dash. And it could actually hold things, unlike mk3 cupholders!
But this will always be my favorite Saab, and favorite color for any car:

Are Saabs and Volvos mostly FWD unlike German cars?

You have good taste in SAAB's!! Lightning Blue 9-3 Viggen! mmmmmm!! :hitit:
iI think that Volvo's are now either FWD or AWD depending on what you buy. All SAAB's except the SAABAru 9-2x are FWD with traction control systems. That 9000 you followed can be a very nasty car to try to catch!! I have an 86 C900 that only puts down 240HP or so and it will smoke most 300HP cars out there from a rolling start. The key to a SAAB if you want to race on is to get the guy to run from a dead stop and even if your car in underpowered you will probably take the SAAB most of the way through. If you catch a SAAB on a rolling run from around 20MPH or up you will get a nasty surprise!!! POWER AND TORQUE up to around 140MPH!!!!!
