OK dudes, I got this VR6 and it had no sound so I put some nice speakers, nice head unit, and a fairly decent sub. The crazy part is that i had to build a custom box for my sub cuz i didnt want to lose a lot of trunk space. All those who have a GTI know what the back is like and prolly understand where i am coming from. Check it out, the sub sounds awesome, it fills the who cab and i lost the least amount of trunk space possible. I am so stoked on the box i was able to build and how good it looks. It looks as if it belongs in the car, as if it was put in the car when they put it together at the factory. Frickin awesome yea? Let me know what you think. :tup:

Nice, I thought about doing this for a while as well ... there's a 'Stealth Box' or something made specifically for that spot in our hatch, but it costs a couple hundred, so its probably just as cheap to build your own!
It does stick out a bit less though ... I need all my space for I keep moving all my belongings in my Golf.

makes bulb changes interesting. I like the ones with the box built on the trunk floor so you cant get your spare tire out. thats a good one

but stereo equipment just adds weight but that is a good spot to stick it.

i am not a super racer so the extra weight doesnt bother me much. In response to the in the floor idea, that was my other option but at the same time i figured it was better to have a spare. whatever the box was built for me by a pro for free so i am not complaining.

I think he's talking about the stealthboxes that allow you to keep your spare tire. they mount in the spare tire compartment w/the tire.

its a perfect fit for one, snug, and then there are two screws in the top from the plastic into the box
