Rendering issues.

1) The smiley placement is screwy in Firefox.

2) The "tooltip" text when you mouseover a topic title is screwy in Firefox.
In IE it comes up as a complete box, in Firefox, just one line that gets cut off.

I think those are just implementation specific behaviors.

I think that the smiley placement is just to keep it cross browser and the single line tooltip is just a difference in how the browsers render alt attributes in tags.
